It’s a horrific read but the full report is here, seen quite a lot of erroneous takes of what it actually finds. There’s an awful lot more the church needs to learn (and people to be held accountable) than Welby resigning.

How is failure to report sexual abuse against children not a crime? Nevermind covering it up, which is basically aiding the crime. Should be in the back of a police van, not be allowed to graciously resign from his job.

In Ireland bishops have a statutory duty to report sex abusers and it is a criminal offence not to do so. I don’t think we have an equivalent.

Church of England appoint Sam Allardyce to shore things up until the end of the season

The Church of England has announced Sam Allardyce as the new Archbishop of Canterbury until the end of the season.

Technically the archbishop does not have to be a priest or even a member of
the C of E. It is a suitable next job for Dick Masters.

"In the statement, Mr Welby says he believed “wrongly” that an “appropriate resolution would follow” when he had first been informed of the abuse in 2013 and that police had been notified. "

It probably isn't a surprise to state that all organisations be they religious or institutionalised are packed to the gills with people who want to control and use their adherents as sex objects and property.

Yes, that’s why I posted the full report. Seen a lot of people say he failed to report it, that’s not what the report found. Its that he didn’t chase it up enough after being told it had been reported.

The main cover up was well before Welbys time. It’s right he resigned too though.
