I think so ,For instance, the first choice goalkeepers in the Premier League are Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United - Dutch), Shay Given (Manchester City – Irish), Jussi Jaaskelainen (Bolton – Finnish), Tomas Sorensen (Stoke – Danish), Pepe Reina (Liverpool - Spanish, and his No.2 is Brazilian), Craig Gordon (Sunderland – Scottish), Carlo Cudicini (Tottenham – Italian, and his No.2 is Brazilian), Petr Cech (Chelsea - Czech Republic, his no.2 is Poruguese), Brian Jensen (Burnley - Danish ), Tim Howard (Everton – American), Brad Friedel (Aston Villa – American), Mark Scwarzer (Fulham – Australian), Wayne Hennessy (Wolves – Welsh), Boaz Myhil (Hull- Welsh).

Discuss.
so what do you suggest?
play an English keeper regardless to whether he's good enough?

Yes I remember this. And also because the school year starts in September.

You don't play sport at school at all in the Netherlands, they are better than us per capita.

IT is more enjoyable playing footy in the Summer though, like they do in colder countries.

To answer the threads question, no. Were too many foreigners to blame when England failed to qualify for the World Cups in 1974 and 78? Or for USA 94? English players are too expensive. Anton Ferdinand cost 9million, Kompany cost 6million. Its no surprise clubs turn to foreign imports. The problem lies in how we bring up our young players, they are taught to run around like headless chickens for 90 minutes, hoof the ball up the field, and to "get stuck in". Absolutly nothing about about tactics or technical skills, infact any player that wears flashy boots, and trys to do step overs, is branded a nancy boy, and doesnt get a chance.

Read the article in the link. Its a great read on the subject.

The cream always rises to the top, select and coach kids properly and you'll improve the standard in the leagues and the national side.

Look at the birthdays. It's statistically impossible that people born in the second half of the year are better footballers. They simply progress better because they are developed more at schoolboy levels at the start of each season. The FA must have a nightmare in May trying to remember everyones cards and cakes!

The English mentality is the reason we're a shite footballing nation.

We prefer well built, tall, hard workers over any trace of talent or ability.

So far the world cup is 1 week old and all you hear about is the English blaming the ball, foreigners and weird trumpets for the fact they are fucking shit. It's embarrassing.

It's time to just admit that the 'golden generation' are all vastly over rated wankers.

I don't own Sky and I don't read tabloids so I'm not surprised that 'world class' Rooney, Gerrard and Lampard fail to perform and are quite average.

So if you don`t have Sky,read the tabloids etc, then where does your information come from ref England and their complaints.
Are you psychic ???????????

Normal TV and that.

I'm just saying, we can blame our shitness on anything and everything but really people complaining about England's shitness are as deluded as Hull fans who expected to win the league this season.

If we just accepted that we aren't very good and that our players are over rated cheating scotes perhaps our expectations would be a touch more realistic and we wouldn't need to blame the ball, the wind, the trees, the Germans or the referees.

I see what you are on about now.

I don't see how may kids being 8 months younger in their year than Sept ones benefits them though? Unless you are saying there are more spring births so the school year should start then?
