Aguero had a poor season also, I do not dispute that. I just think it's wise to get rid of the wages as well as make £10m on someone that is out of contract next year and likely to walk on a free. We'd have been in the same situation having to get a striker next year but without the money saved on wages and the transfer fee. So I'm pretty happy with that.
Yeah, that's 10/12m in fee (depending on who you believe) and around 15-18m pounds in wages. We have saved around 25-30m on this deal.

That's only if you sign no one to replace
Tevez would have cost 26m for 12 months.

No replacement will cost that much. Not even messi

They are doing what they did at Barcelona

I feel uneasy tbh.

We are very good hands DN.

I have the same feeling as you do when your climbing on a roller coaster, slowly arriving at the big peak. A million thoughts are going through your head. Then within warning, you're off, things happening too fast to make any sense of, generally thinking WTF!!!! and then its over. You climb off, think that was fooking brilliant and wanna do the same all over again. Something massive will happen this summer, it has to. 2 great signings already and can see at least another 2 coming in. The owners aren't daft. Have faith.

Why not
Surely bargaining from a position of bereftness put pressure on us ?

Works both ways. If we have a replacement, we need to sell and therefore get less.
Pay less in the first place for a replacement and sell for less as a result, or sell for as much as we can get and then pay slightly more for replacements.

Hmmm... I need to ponder that

The price paid will always be set by how much the selling club want/need to get rid and how long is left on a player's contract.

Why is everyone worrying?

As far as i can see, things are moving forward and positively.

Tevez had one year left on his contract, and if we were to keep him wed have to give him away free not to mention another years salary (12M). Contract extension hed probably deny and would probably be a higher salary, and the fact hes 29 and wont get any better.

Everyone is forgetting Aguero? the striker who was rated 50M+ not 2 years ago? Under Pelligrini and injury-free he will flourish and will easily be a 30+ id say next season. Remember him for Atletico? Jheeze. Same with Dzeko, this new system will suit him and i can see 20+ goals next season which isnt bad. We also have the potential of Guidetti, who could become the next Benteke under the right manager which we have. Isco wasnt needed, Nasri will be a new player under Pelligrini hopefully, and theyll always be another 'World Beater' next year and we might have someone special in our youth system in the next 5 years, we never know.

Its also MID JUNE, the transfer window ends at the end of AUGUST, not to mention it hasnt even begun yet and weve already signed two of our top targets. Sure we need another striker, but im more than confident Cheeky has someone lined up.

Pelligrini will promote some youth, hopefully Suarez and Pozo, to add depth, drop Garcia and will get that extra 50% from our players we so craved last year.

eh?
His contract was about to run out in 12 months costing us any value £10m he is currently worth.

£10m in wages and a £6m loyalty bonus.

£26m to keep him for 12 months.

It just goes to show how poor our negotiating skills are, 12 million for a player of carlos's ilk is just really bad business , regardless of him entering the last year of his contract.

For the 20 odd years i've followed city i've seen some insane money wasted on transfers , but this for me is the final nail in the coffin. Getting rebuffed for players is one thing, but letting arguably our most talented if not hard working player go for peanuts is just insane.

Thanks for that, I still had to read twice before it sank in ;)
