are we asset stripping?

Tevez went yesterday, AJ was replaced now by Navas who is a different player but teams change style and way of playing. Nige's role has become not needed in our system as Fernandinho is a more complete player, Balo went in Jan and we're only a month into the window so to say we won't get a replacement(if it's felt needed) is presumptive.

Lot of unnecessary knee jerking at the moment and it's rather tiresome, Txiki didn't assemble title and CL winning squads at Barca because he didn't know what he was doing. Have a little patience, you're old enough Bill to wait to the end of August and have faith in what we're trying to do.

tevez, balo, nige, aj all gone. not ONE replacement for any of them. well not worth having anyway,

As much as I like you're general WUMing there is an element in truth in what you're saying. For the life of me I do not understand how we can spunk £30mil on a player that we didn't really need and is unproven.
FFS Did you see how shite Garcia, Barry, Rodwell etc performed in the CL?

Fernandinho will prove to be a quality buy.

Agreed got big hopes for Fernandinho, but don't expect the goals to be coming directly from him.

Much more mobile player than Garcia and De Jong

It's not all about buying stellar names. It's about assembling a team that will challenge in every competition. We have already got rid of two ego's in the last 2 windows, why buy more ego's? I'd rather we go for less well known players and build a football team, rather than buying ego's after ego's (Tevez, Balotelli). It's not just about buying the stellar names, I'd much rather we went out and bought Jovetic and Muriel than bought Cavani.

Take a look at Dortmund as an example. Built a team in the right way possible. It's not about spending massive money all of the time. Real Madrid might have big money buys all over the park but I'd back that Dortmund team against Real Madrid in any match.

Exactly this and some would do well to understand that signing stellar names in every position does not solve a problem, it about creating a blend

Totally agree, my mum always used to say "the proof of the pudding is in the eating". The pudding will be ready by the 1st of September 2013 at the latest.

We've bought 2 accomplished players who are round pegs in round holes and the key is they both want to play for us. They can both see that we are a vehicle they can use, that can propel them both into the World Cup finals next summer. I can't wait for the start of the new season!!

There are no doubts that we are going to see an improvement in quality in our side.

Fernandinho will prove to be world class IMO
and Navas will be a more than useful option

I trust more than a few of us watched Navas tonight in the Confederation Cup. Came on in the 2nd half. I think it was evident he will tear a few fullbacks a new arse next year after giving a very experienced and competent defending team, Italy including Chiellini, a few mares and bouts of cramp. Only some decent keeping and inept finishing prevented his inclusion from being decisive. I'm looking forward to watching him already!
Oh and he slotted the winning penalty in sudden death under immense pressure!

Fernandinho will be the key signing for City. Too many times last season, particularly exploited in the Champions League, we were too slow in possession. I watched us keep the ball really well for large periods against Real only to lose it without creating anything. Real on the other hand were quick and to the point. Fernandinho will ensure our misfield is not overun and will help feed the ball efficiently to speed up our play. Navas will provide that cutting edge, to beat a man and create space and having one player that can do that will mean silva, nasri, yaya have a lot more options in terms of putting the ball into space. We will also have an effective outlet in terms of clearing the ball.
