are we asset stripping?

I think we are to an extent,as such,Lescott and Barry will be high on the 'get rid' list.
The definition of asset stripping isn't merely selling stuff as far as I know. They have ploughed so much money in to the club it defies belief. Most of the assets they are supposedly stripping have been bought by the owner in the first place and not many have been sold at a profit. Even AJ who was sold at a profit has now been replaced with a more expensive player. I'd say they aren't asset stripping and the accusation is nonsense and probably insulting.

tevez, balo, nige, aj all gone. not ONE replacement for any of them. well not worth having anyway,

As much as I like you're general WUMing there is an element in truth in what you're saying. For the life of me I do not understand how we can spunk £30mil on a player that we didn't really need and is unproven.

we were crying out for box to box mid last year. Yaya gets fucked if he goes on a run, Barry has been amazing the last few years but is on his last legs now, Rodwell is a great player but injury prone anf garcia has ermmm good hair. Fernandinho is a quality signing and so is navas. Both MAJOR upgrades on NDJ and AJ.
Oh and its only 26th june so plenty of time for more upgrades.

We are not asset stripping but are re-building the squad with a view to becoming profitable and remaining competitive.

The owners have done an amazing job in financing our resurgence. However, lets be honest they are business people and do not want to lose money and will not pay over the odds for a player. They don't need to now as we can guarantee CL football and challenging for the PL every season to new prospects.

This is why the academy is being built to provide some long term prospects which will either play first team or be sold for a profit. The RAGS do this quite well and there is no reason why we cannot do the same. This is also why players like Tevez are being shifted, he gave us the success we needed initially at a huge outlay, we now shift him on and get him off the books, that is good business, not asset stripping.

I'm very impressed with the way they run the club and have total faith we will continue to grow and be competitive.

don't agree mike.

we were desperate for this type of player LAST season when we gave nige away for peanuts. so he cost 30m (or whatever) if you pay 17 you get a Garcia level and not being unkind to the lad but he was nowhere near ready for the prem.
he is very proven in my book.

Not asset stripping.

There have been some structural changes in the club with regards to senior management and this has also brought a new footballing philosophy with it. I think there is a clear effort to reduce the capital intensity of our senior squad whilst also maintaining quality, tough to do but clearly the spaniards think it can be done.... time will tell.

Consider.. If we manage to get isco, cavani and a very good cb for a net decrease in working capital (wages) and only a total outlay of 40 to 50 mil ( navas, fer, isco, cav, cb) once player sales are taken into account, that would probably constitute our best ever window IMO.

But we are being told we have no chance of Iisco & Cavani
