Are we going to win the league?

I hate all this Jose talk.

If we get Jose in you can say goodbye to the current youth crop because he won't risk his reputation on kids, he wants proven top class talent.

He has desecrated every clubs image he has been at except for probably Porto.

City want a long term plan, Jose is clearly short term.

We are going to have bad seasons, but you move on and come back for the next season and try harder!

Their is a saying in Football that the League Table never lies.

Last Season, I felt it did. We were in my opinion at least 5/6 points better than United. Most of the sensible ones knew however that at some point in the Season our players would hit poor form. Defeat at Arsenal saw us fall way behind but I personally pulled myself together and I had belief that our superior players would win the day. I never in my wildest dreams imagined we would leave it so late but I had faith.

This Season - we have been second best since day one. Van Persie didn't choose United for Money or for History or because he didn't fancy rotating with any three from four of Kun,Tevez,Dzeko or Mario - he chose them because the ping it out to the wide players and knock it in the Box; Scum style suited his game.

He has made a massive difference and I am afraid the gap will get bigger; and I am afraid they will do us at Wembley in the FA Cup Semi's or God forgive me the Cup Final; I say this knowing that if you picked an 11 from both sides we have at least 7 of that Team.

Hart - Zabs - Clichy - VK - Yaya - Merlin - Kun; you could probably throw in Barry as well.

No dirty tricks. No Agenda. Taggert isn't a tactical Genious compared to Mr Mancini; its just that they hit the ground running and just got faster and faster. City fans can take the piss all they want out of the Smallings,Cleverleys,Evra's and Johnny Evans' all they want but they are a hell of a side and those just mentioned and most of their team mates are really good players.

We had a poor Summer in the Transfer market - with FFP we didn't know whether to Stick or Twist and ultimately we didn't improve or kick on. For this, I dont blame the owners.I dont blame Marwood and I especially dont blame the Manager; Its just been how its been.

I still think we can win the league. On paper no team comes near us not even the rags. Player by Player most of ours win.

How can a better team come second? I understand fergie time and control over the FA and media but that's what keeps them close to us, even with that where that far ahead of them we will win. Just like last season.'

If we sign 3 or 4 world class players i believe we will win the league by at least 10 points next season.

So obvious you can smell this obsessed glory hunting out of town rag.

Not a chance in hell! I said on this thread that if we don't beat Liverpool it is over and i stand by that.Do you see us winning EVERY game with Chelsea,Spurs,Everton, the rags and Swansea away to come?? No and neither do i!

Nine points is basically the rags losing three games out of thirteen and when they lose us winning and sorry we can live in hope but it isn't going to happen.

We haven't improved on last year and they have.We are too one paced, predictable and no real plan B or other options in the locker. While Mario was a loose cannon to go into the crucial part of the season with just three strikers is madness!!It seems obvious they knew he was going for a while and yet we didn't line up a replacement, even short term and it will cost us.

This season has been a harsh lesson learnt. All the top teams strengthen when they are at their strongest and we didn't.We sat and basked in the feel good factor of winning the league and while we snoozed others didn't.Hopefully never again!!!

Great post and, I'm afraid to say, on the money.

The key games in the season are the ones against your closest rival.

Had we won the derby the gap is 3 points.

We didn't and the gap is 9.

Last season of they had won just one of the two they would have won it by 6!

That's the game we fucked things up.

Liverpool were excellent yesterday, deserved at least a draw and we are not going to win 13/13 playing like we are.

I would be surprised if we hit 85 points this season. I think closer to 80 is more likely.

I would be very happy with the FA Cup and 2nd place this season. I don't think we will win now sorry.

The premier league win is still fresh in my memory and not repeating will not be the end of the world I am proud of City.

We have not bought well in the offseason and did nothing in January. The Balo saga is over and there is work do be done for next season clearly. United getting RVP and his brilliance has been the real difference but we haven't done ourselves many favours either to deserve the title.

It doesn't matter how many good players we have if they don't play together as a team. We can't rely on the genius of Aguero every game! We were woefully disjointed yesterday with far too many passes going to the opposition. Maybe needing the leadership and stability that Kompany brings.
