Indeed, Uruguay have like loads, two World Cups and all their Olympic gold medal wins.

They have 4 because they believe that the first two Olympic wins were the unofficial “World Cup” before it was spun off as a separate entity by FIFA.

Uruguay’s 1924 Olympic win was the first time a tournament had been held with representation across more than two confederations (there was representation from 4 confederations - North America, South America, Africa and Europe). Making it the first true transcontinental international football tournament. 1928 was similar, Uruguay won again… then FIFA got the confederations to ditch the Olympics to compete at the World Cup instead and in 1930 Uruguay won the first “World Cup proper”.

It’s all down to whether you believe the World Cup is defined by who plays in it or who organises it. But by their own definition Uruguay are the only team to win it 3 times in a row.

The ridicule beacause the stars were meaningless, not that I cared back then about what anyone else thought.A star now wouldn’t be the same thing, again not bothered either way.

Yes they were, but that’s because they were meaningless stars. Now we have a reason for one.

It's small time for me. Don't see the Scousers parading round with 6 stars on. An idea would be for all clubs to do this but only on the European version of their shirt - another money spinner for the club here lol.

I know some European teams that have stars do it as 1 star per every 5 or 10 league titles won.
