Are we in danger of missing our main transfer targets?

At the end of the day if sides like barca rags real go in for a player we are after it's obvious where they would rather go.

Why can't people accept this ?

What we do have is the ability to offer higher wages and transfer fees in some cases this will make us the winner but it's never easy signing the best players.

But the FFPR makes it hard for us to offer higher wages and transfer fees because it affects the numbers directly. We are simply not allowed to spend as we like regardless of having money.

We have until September 1st to sign players and we have just fininshed the season so no panic.

Most clubs now have at least a 2 week total break from it all and that's not just players but, managers, CEO, coaching staf etc.

The only ones who don't take time away are the agents of the players and these are the ones who need the transfer window to make their money so they will poke the fire and see where the interest lies.

it's like a game of chess for the agents and they will see what is best for them and not just the player and they will be the ones who give information to the media as this is advertising the product (the player).

I assume the players we're after are being targeted by the biggest clubs. City maybe a bigger fish, but we've moved into Tiger Shark waters.

Hard to say how we re doing. Tolmie is the only source this board has who can be relied upon. The papers just copy and paste and at best get used by agents. They are totally unreliable.

Why worry? It's June

And you can ignore him because he keeps talking in fucking ridiculous riddles so no-one has a clue what the he'll he's going on about ;-)

While what you say is true the longer the players have to "bed in" and play with their team mates the more chance we will function as a team and better chance we have of success.

and is certainly proved to be right more times than he is wrong however I am sure there is a number who will vehemently disagree,

Didn't he says Sanchez was done besides the ink on paper? Just something that stands out in memory for me as I thought we had Sanchez then when in reality we were never even close to getting him according to the papers.

Tolmie have been fairly accurate for a number of years..It´s just that you have to read his posts one after the other. Sometimes they did come days apart. He also mentioned when City decided to cool the Sanchez/Cahill talks for example, and why..a post you might not have read because it drowned in mammoth threads.

No, I just think we are being very selective in who we go for and won't pay over the odds. In addition I beleive the club want to see a player who wants to join us for the right reason.

Centre Back - Targets seem to be Jones, Cahil and Vertonghen, deals which involve Anderlecht, Rovers and Bolton. If the deal was for Jones we could do a deal involving RSC and or Onouha so the overall cost might not be too prohibitive and shifts the so called deadwood at the same time, RSC has already been there on loan so that might not be a problem whether Ned would go there only the players knows. If it were bolton again the suggestion has been Ned and maybe Boyata on loan. Vertonghen is pure ding but that could be recovered by selling Boetang to Bayern.

Left Back - Bale, and Baines can't see either club wanting Bridge in part ex so I suspect either deal will involve big bucks, looks like our other target has chosen Madrid i.e Madrid. Whether Everton would be interested in Ade as part of the deal it is hard to say but IMO can't see it to be honest.

Centre Midfield - No real targets have been identified by anyone really everyone seems to suggest that Yaya would drop back allowing the likes of Sneijder or a winger to be employed either attacking midfield or wide right or left. Sneidjer without part ex for Tevez would involve serious money, the others of Mata and Pastore would probably be the same but I would hope that if we are to buy any of them Sneijder would be my prefered option the guy is a mercenary and has has NDJ as a team mate whether or not he can play with Silva is open to debate but even if he can't we cannot expect either to play the full season and therefore expect rotation between CL and prem.

Looks like four players in my book whether I agree with the club, manager over the so called targets is irrelevant.

Lots of time yet to conclude any deals and no doubt a lot more speculation to come. In the above I haven't really started on the speculation of Fabregas and Nasri just cannot see Fabregas leaving Arsenal to come to us, Nasri would be an interesting buy and maybe I should have included him above. Modric is another one who could go in that midfield set up, but I can't see Spurs letting Bale and Modric both leave especially to us even though they might be persuaded to take Ade/Bellamy in part ex.
