Are we in danger of missing our main transfer targets?

Its been international games since last week... many players arent available for discussions while they play for their country... so just chill and relax... plenty of time to get what we want!

The transfer window these days is quite entertaining. There's basically a niche of heavy hitters (of which we are one, Barca, Real, Chelsea and Inter being the others) waiting for someone to make the first move. It's kinda like the end of Reservoir Dogs, everyone's got a gun pointed at each other and once someone pulls the trigger it will set off a massive chain reaction.

I swear all those clubs mentioned above (especially us, obviously) are waiting on the Tevez situation. Once that decision is declared, either way, I think the action will begin (especially if he does push through a transfer). Even the clubs that aren’t necessarily in for Tevez or cannot realistically sign him (like Chelsea) are held up by the decision, it’s all linked. We could see a spectacular striker merry-go-round this summer with Tevez, Eto’o, Higuain and Aguero all swapping clubs!

The thing that might suprise a few people is that Mancini wants tevez out. He wants ibrahimovic in. Ffpr means tevez must go for it all to make sense the problem is finding a buyer willing to pay the fee and his wage demands. Only a select few and do they want tevez a player who has openly said he's dine with Europe in three years so no resale value after that point.

Well, you said Ibra is on his way (along with Mata), so a solution to this apparent problem must have been found?

I don't believe we need to sell Tevez to remain within FFPR.

Posts like the OP make me laugh. How do you know what's going on behind the scenes?
What is it in the OP you take issue with? Are you saying we havent been after Sanchez and Sneijder and the Tevez situation is fully resolved?
As I said I know it is early days and I realise we "have a difficult balancing act." I am not trying to undermine our management but just expressing a concern. :-]

Some of the comments are so simplistic in these threads. Whether or not FFPR is a big issue for us - I suspect will all the little rules it is not as bad there seems to me to be two huge points everyone is missing.

1 we are privately owned by mansour meaning all deals with Emirates sovereign wealth funds companies are I believe arms length and with all the pre 2010 exemptions and investment/youth exemptions we will be better off than the press want to portray.

2 despite the above it is very much in our interests for all the other clubs especially ones whose players we want to think we are an FFPR basket case. This perception could make millions of pounds difference on fees and wages. So if I was city I would have as many stories as possible about our FFPR issues put there and would be playing down all rumours of buys and ensuring we were linked with cheap swap deals.

We would be stupid to be flashing our wealth, encouraging big talk and lots of speculation and we would be stupid to overpay by acting too early.

The naivety in some of the posts here is amazing to suggest we should start flashing wealth, rush deals for the sake of it etc

I think the Tevez quotes regarding 3 more years in Europe are designed to drive down his transfer value. The lower his value the more chance of going where he wants and getting the wages he wants. He will probably then sign a 5 year deal !

If I were Mancini I'd want him out as well. Any player acting like Tevez is disruptive to squad unity.
