I wasn't really sure where to post this - it fits in so many posts! I've picked here because I can't start my own thread, and it fits quite nicely.
Get a grip the lot of you -
We're improving - I'm not happy with the second half to the season (who would be as a City fan), but it should teach us the following valuable lessons:-
1) Mario I'm sorry but we can't afford you as a distraction.
2) We need QUALITY defensive cover - I'd say we have 6 quality defenders. We need the other 2.
3) We need more width, and a ready made replacement for Silva when injured.
4) we need to carry 4 strikers who are totally committed to the cause.
For the exit door:
Kolorov - unless you're going to use him as an out and out winger (actually looks useful in that position)
Savic - possibly on loan.
A. Johnson - sorry just not been there this season, hasn't progressed
One of NDJ, James Milner - with Gaz Baz, Yaya and Zabs at a push I don't see the need to keep both (based on the need for genuine width)
Tevez - for obvious reasons
Mario - again for obvious reasons
Ones already on loan:
Bridge - just leave so you're off the payroll
Boyata - not on his perfomances at Bolton I'm afraid
M Johnson - don't see him recovering to play in the Prem
Weiss - haven't seen him this season so won't comment
Santa Cruz - again leave so you're off the payroll
Adebayor - if I thought he'd come back and play like he does for Spurs then yes, but I doubt it.
Guidetti - 4th striker role might work, depends if he's willing to go back to that
That gets rid of 12 names off the salary - at least 7 should bring in some money.
Assuming from the 7 we got something between £100m and £120m - Kolorov(10-15), Tevez(25), Mario(20-25), Johnson (10-15), NDJ/James (15-10), Ade (20 at least base on this season)
I would think we could add the Champions League money - giving £140-160m (plus a little extra if something special becomes available) to spend on 5 top quality players. I'm sure we can attract them based on this season.
If Bobby M. sees sense with Mario then I'd keep him - don't see much sense in changing managers just yet.
Before I'm slated for being a:
i) glory hunter
ii) late comer
iii) newbie who's only had a season ticket for 2 years
iv) deluded on the above prices (I'm basing these on what I reckon would be market value for sqaud players).
I've been following the club since 1976 - just because I've recently chosen to express my opinion on here doesn't make me any of the above.
Everyone is welcome to an opinion, this is just mine. Bear in mind though people that keep changing managers in the past hasn't really helped us has it. Oh, and for all Romans changes at Chelsea - he still hasn't won that Champions League he so desperatly wants.
So we didn't win the league this year - so long as we learn the above we'll be stronger next year.
P.S. if someone wants to start this as a thread so everyone can slate me to kingdom come then feel free - I'll still be there with my daughter next year!!!
