are we wasting this window?

A little too early to worry yet as I expect there are a few things in the pipeline.

I agree that there is a problem attracting world class players in January, but disagree with some who believe that Mancini has only a 6 month focus. He'll have both short & long term plans & targets. Also believe that his primary work will be on the squad he has inherited & if you read some of the quotes from other players he has changed things on the training ground in terms of methods, ideas & routines. Having said that I believe we need better defensive options at right/left back & possibly a commanding centre back, although I can't see us change three quarters of the defence mid season.

i'm worried about our targets/ non signings, we have a fantastic chance to finish in the top 4 yet i feel we are'nt really "going for it".
of course its early days but i just feel uneasy, we know our weaknesses, we can buy the best in every department yet it seems all so quiet, if not quiet our targets are scary.

i dont know about anyone else but i was really looking forward to this window, it just seems to be passing us by, we can't let this chance go, it would be just criminal.

thoughts?

I posted a thread about mancini's signings yesterday de niro. I said that i think he is bringing in players such as vieira that are top class players and could get us into the top 4 but they are not for the future as there age suggests. But i think he is trying to save himself in his job and he needs to do that by getting top 4 this season and when we do it and he is still here then he can chase the younger best players in the world and build for the future

Because we have money, doen't mean we have to spend it. Think, when the whole squad is fit, we're a match for anybody. Also there are quite a few days till the closure date. Expect more signings towards the end. IMO

Say we splash out and reach top 4, suddenly we have to splash out all over again as once we get in the top 4 i think thats when we will really "go for it" where as a few minor additions we already have a squad capable of achieving top 4, saving more money to splash out in summer if we achieve our target and not unsettling the squad thats won 3 on the bounce at the momet.

Mind you, i wouldn't say no to some quality signings.

I can see us bringing in Ansaldi, which certainly solves that left back problem, I think another CB wouldn't go amiss, though I like the idea of Boyata and Kompany together. A new right back is also a priority imo, and Im sure Mancio will look at it. My main worry is not selling certain players like Richards. Personally, I'd like a new right back and have Zabba as back up.

mr de niro please from now on can you tow the party line " there is no value out there " lol

very good thread though also think vieira will be the voice at training and dressing room

If Benji goes and Rocky is crocked, do we need another striker?
MEN has got round to reporting our alleged pursuit of Ansaldi also Kaboul and Moses.
Last week they had David Villa going to United, so it's a bit depressing.

Thats a yes then.

Hold on....its a no
