Are You Officially Priced Out Yet, Or Almost?

Its the 1st home game of the season against Liverpool, the biggest football family in the world, the Champions v the Shouldhavebeen Champions, the tickets were bound to be dearer than normal, every game wont cost this.

If my circumstances remain the same, I can afford the two SC's I buy year in year out.

I have however, given not renewing more than a casual thought over the last couple of years.

10 out our first 13 games are live on the box and pragmatism will kick in at some point as I could save the best part of £2500 including a few aways & travel.

'The fans will always be at the heart of everything we do'.

Not anymore. Still, I'm sure there'll be someone to take my place when the time comes.

So if £57 is our cheapest, what is our most expensive?

City don't publish prices 'dynamic pricing policy' so around £70 based on usual comparisons.

South Stand lower will be about £63, the Liverpool site will tell us more than ours does when they sell the aways.

so if match day tickets aren't selling too well, will these get lowered closer to the game ?

are there any other clubs that operate this policy on tickets, think it stinks tbh.

There was a survey a few years back, at city didn't give their prices as they said it allowed them to be more flexible. I think it just refers to not saying the prices at at the start of the season etc. Like being able to put QPR to a high price if the title was riding on it. Blackburn was the only prem club that did the same at the time. City charged more for Liverpool than United last season, so it just seems a way of maximising cash. Blackburn charged as low as £10 though, so they may have had different reasons for using it.

Just not buying this argument mate. Not all the top clubs do it. Take a look at the Germans pricing and Uli's comments.

The German model is distinctly different than the UK model, as are the stadia, where you can have a standing section. Also, there are about TWO teams over there with money and the rest of the teams act like feeder clubs! Heck, one of the top two teams has been the Bayern feeder club the past few years!

You can't point to Bayern and Dortmund and try to extrapolate that to City. Well, you CAN, but the argument loses it's thrust quickly. Bayern plays in a bigger stadium and is about the only club in Germany, so it has the best stadium, best quality sponsors, who pay the biggest money, yet make the same annual revenue as City. Then again, if you are German and want to play for the "almost" German national team in München, then you will take €100,000 per week rather than €200,000..... Because you get to live at home, play at home, and STILL make up the difference with German sponsors who want you name and face associated with your products. Tell me the ENGLISH players who have big sponsorship deals with ENGLISH companies? Hart & Head and Shoulders?! PMSL.

Just be glad you are not a lifelong Spurs fan! Their CHEAPEST TICKET is more expensive than our most expensive one.....and they don't have the new stadium with brilliant sight lines from every seat and a few pots in the trophy case over the past few years and regular CL football! Or The Arse, where you need a second mortgage for a season ticket....and you celebrate like you won the league when you squeak into Fourth and a CL Qualifier!

Being a City fan has never been easy. It used to be you paid reasonable money to watch dross and be laughed at by your friends and neighbours. Now, we win something every year, watch the best football we have ever seen, and we even get to test our mettle against the worlds best teams (Real Madrid, Dortmund, Bayern and Barca have all been here in the past few years). Sadly, it has cost a pretty penny to get there and we now have to pay a few extra quid for the pleasure. Fair dos, in my book, but then I'm not the person who thinks saving a tenner a week for a seasoncard is an outrageous expense. For those that do, I'm sure most games will be on their Sky box at home, or down the pub.....both of which are far more expensive options.

To each their own.

nail on head

Well, a few seasons ago, I bought an extra ticket near us in East Stand, Second Tier, so my sis-in-law could sit in my seat next to her hubby. Ticket was £52, opponent was Spurs!

Crouchinho scored the winner....but for which team?! ;)

Sick to death of hearing about utd spurs arsenal German teams don't give a flying fuck what they get charged I don't support them !! Please stop trying to justify what city are doing to 4000/5000 match day blues .on the scheme of things it makes no difference to the club at all but a life changing difference to the fans !!!!!

I'm fortunate that I can afford my SC without any problems. I am also signed up to all of the cup schemes and I get to my fair share of away games.
However it is starting to get expensive and for the first time I can ever remember I have begun to question how much I am spending on watching MCFC. I no longer buy any replica kits or club merchandise. I will probably knock a couple of the cup schemes on the head next season for sure. I don't enjoy the CL games anywhere near as much as I thought I would and the Capitol cup will go as well.
A bit sad really but overall it is costing thousands of pounds nowadays and it is getting difficult to keep on justifying it even to myself - never mind Mrs TGR!
