Are You Officially Priced Out Yet, Or Almost?

Right, I've decided to start a new Football club called FC City of Stockport.

If anyone is interested in joining, PM me. ;-?

BTW. I'm not going to the Community Shield. I'm saving that £100 and putting it towards a CL away match. Hopefully that will cover my flight. There you go, I've made a choice.

then maybe just maybe, ticket prices might become more reasonable as we become more self efficient?
You honestly believe that?[/quote]

No of course not. :-(

What happens when the prices become too much for even the "tourists" ?

Well that is theoretical only - market forces/supply and demand kicks in. In the same way more can be asked now because there are people willing to pay it - prices will regulate when that is not the case

Not quite priced out yet; but getting hyped, sanitised, commercialised, over stewarded, and increasingly detached out.

Same here.

I still go out of habit and the football is great, but the atmosphere is not like it used to be.

If the stadium had been full of quiet, seated middle class types paying a fortune for their seats when I was a boy I probably wouldn't have been taken by my dad and wouldn't have started going with my friends a few years later.

Now I've seen City win a few trophies for the first time since I was at school I'll probably stop going to City regularly after this coming season and start supporting a lower league club where standing is still allowed and ticket prices are reasonable.

The only thing that will turn away this trend is empty seats and unsold tickets.

While we sell out I suspect the club doesn't really give a toss if it's a long time supporter or a day tripper. They'd probably prefer the day tripper to be fair.

I honestly believe that once the stadium is expanded then you will see more reasonably priced tickets. Even more so when the collar site is done, although that is some time off. I don't buy into the theory that we will have "loads of tourists" - not for a long time anyway.

To be fair to the club they offer season tickets which can be paid in four instalments which helps out immensely. Our season tickets are very reasonably priced v's other clubs, and especially when you consider the quality of football on offer.

Whenever this subject comes up I always try and understand those who could afford it two years ago but cannot now? £100 more than two seasons ago is less than a pint a week. People will now doubt tell me to f*ck off but a bit of simple money management will find you the cash to go. Get on MSE and challenge all your bills you pay in a year - I bet you can save £500/year easily with a bit of effort and determination.

I really don't get this line of thinking. Give up a pint a week and it doesn't make the £100 price rise in your season ticket any cheaper or better value.

And we shouldnt forget that we were already giving up quite a few pints a week for our season tickets already. Should the aim of City be to make sure that we mometise our supporters to the extent that every bit of disposable income is passed on to the club?

its not just the ticket money, were on the back of one of the worst recessions in history we are told its getting better but we all know full well they are lies, city have just become another major bill like united utilities, gas and electricity, you can only take out of the pocket what is inside it, i packed in my sky package this season to pay for my card the season before i stopped smoking the trouble is now i'm running out of things to pack in to aid me financially
