Are You Officially Priced Out Yet, Or Almost?

I didn't want to accept it, but I think I have been priced out - or very nearly - for the next year at least. I managed to do Newcastle last week as my dad paid for my ticket however I'm now eyeing up Liverpool and it's going to cost £70 minimum (ticket + transport). For a lot of us, not only is City a love, it's also a social thing. If I mention I'm going, a few of the lads who I've not seen for a while will want to share a pint or three, so I either say I'm not interested with seeing them or go and pay an extra £20 - 30. Regardless, it's £70 minimum.

I'm back at university early September and I don't start back at my job until Freshers kicks in, so end of September. I've still got a few weeks to get by on with nothing incoming. If I choose to go on Monday, that's a bit more outgoing than I'd want right now.

Guess I'll be picking and choosing my games until I can hopefully get a ST back, either next season or the following. Currently I'm probably looking at either Sunderland [A], Palace or Burnley [H] (both if money allows), Everton [A], and Liverpool [A]. Sunderland because I can stay up in Newcastle so it's easy for me to do, Palace or Burnley as I'll be home over the Christmas period, and Everton + Liverpool as they're near my uni.

If it wasn't for the ease of getting to Everton & Liverpool, I'd be down to two or three games this season. I appreciate that being able to pick those out means I'm not 100% priced out, however the serious questions I'm having to ask about Monday (is it sensible, what about the next few weeks, etc), means that at this moment in time, I am close to it.

Transfer fees/amortisation cost quite a bit :)
You've missed the point where ticket money makes up fuck all in comparison to media deals.

I haven't missed the point. My response was to the query about the gap between the wage bill and revenue.

According to the OS the Liverpool match is sold out.(minus Viagogo which still has over *300* tickets for sale <a class="postlink" href="http://www.viagogo.co.uk/mcfc/Sports-Tickets/Football/Barclays-Premier-League/Manchester-City-Tickets/E-670753" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.viagogo.co.uk/mcfc/Sports-Ti ... s/E-670753</a> )

Correct, Blue Smarties, the ticket money is much less than the TV money and the main sponsorships. That doesn't mean the ticket money is not needed to make a small contribution towards the enormous losses that have been incurred and which continued to be incurred in the last published accounts.

I thought Soriano stated clearly the figures for 2013-14 will break even, those for this new season will show profit.

What gap?

People still under-estimate our tremendous global growth. Soaring past Chelsea and Arsenal in revenue (2012-13) so early in our 'plan' is quite staggering really.

John, after 40 years of questioning company owners I learned long ago that one answered question generally leads to another. The accounts to 2012 showed a loss of £100M and with a great fanfare the accounts to 2013 were announced showing a loss reduced by half to around £50M. But then you look at the 2013 accounts and you see unusual one off transactions worth well over £40M. Without them the loss would have been little reduced. Then we see that the same accounts included contingent liabilities of another £50M not yet charged to the accounts but to be charged if and when they become payable. This would no doubt be future bonuses payable to players for success and loyalty and add-ons that may become payable to clubs who sold us those players. On top of all that the owners have incurred all of the expenditure on the new training facilities that are not even part of the Profit and Loss Account and more recently the extension to the ground.

From what I have read the plan now is to offer lower wages and higher bonuses. This is to move expenditure to the future and will help us comply with FFP. I have read that the bonuses will be ignored altogether for FFP. I am sorry but I cannot believe they will not be taken into account when incurred and in any event it is reasonable that the club should want to break even whatever the FFP position.

Rags? Internet fan by the sounds of it, never heard that in real life in the last 4 decades. City are not a Canadian team, no self respect...
