croats played lovely football, they were the better side until the goal. Arge dominated thereafter and were ruthless. i wanted croatian goals as the scoreline wasn t justified. good luck to Alvarez in the final, one of the true gems of the tournament.

Had we not already signed him pre WC there’d be a good few on here clamouring for us to do so now mate.

Shilton was nowhere near as good as people make him out to be. He saved a total of 3 pens of 54 faced in his entire career and one of those 3 was in a friendly. Like our current keeper he had T Rex arms. Terrible keeping for Germanys goal in the semi in 1990 and never got near one pen! I was crying out to Robson to sub him before the shootout for Beasant who was big and imposing and had a decent pen record.

But he was taller than Maradona but allowed him to out jump him in his own box....appalling!!!
