I get the comments about the commentary being over the top with Messi, it is tiresome. but he is playing well and Messi is the main attraction.

What I find hilarious is the likes of Piers Morgan and the rest of the Ronaldo fanboys complaining about it.

The media and commentary would be exactly the same for him if he was doing this for Portugal. And they would love it.

The best comment was.. Where's the keeper supposed to go? What an argument for a non pen that is. He could of actually made contact with the ball, then it wouldn't matter if he touched him after.

Are you saying he should have stayed on his line just in case Maradona punched it?
 
FWIW I don't think it was a pen. There was a great angle that showed alvarez just run into the keeper.

It could be argued it could go either way and still be correct....
 
First time I have laughed at 'punditry' in a while. Neville sets the agenda and usually, the coverage the next day follows it, but when they went to the match co-commentators, McCoist and the other two say 'I can't believe that - its a nailed on pen, If that takes place anywhere else on the pitch, it a foul and a booking'. Didn't get their ducks in a row there.
Also, Neville said Julian was lucky with his first. He luckily came out and blocked the cross, then he luckily ran for a return pass, then he luckily, got it under control, the he luckily ran half the pitch and ran four defenders ragged ( see what I did there), then he luckily waited for his own player to take 2 Croatians away, then he luckily got a toe on the ball, then he luckily showed determination to keep on going when others may have given up or dived, and finally luckily tapped it in. It's lucky we only paid 15m for him.

It looked to me that the widely splayed leg was what did for the keeper, as that was movement to obstruct, and not just standing still.
We've seen defenders penalised for years for being run into and doing less.

It's a great shame that McCoist is an ITV man, as his evident joy in the game itself shines.

McCoist said penalty at the start of the second half and basically said anyone who doesn’t think it was should give up the game.
