Argument re: United and their treatment of Munich survivors

Re: Arguement ref United and their treatment of Munich surviours

So am I getting this right?

I'm getting my credentials as a City fan questioned and being labeled juvenile by someone who's username is that of a Bad Boys 2 baddie?

@jonnytapia, I would firstly like to say I'm only 33 years old, my knowledge of football is mainly consists of football and events I have witnessed. I have been to many grounds, granted not 82, I highly doubt we have played at 82 away grounds. For you to have visited 82 English away grounds, I'm guessing you've not missed a single away game ever. It suggests that you have attended every away game we have had in both the FA Cup and league cup over the years. We have (1 season apart) always been in the top 2 divisions of English football. But hey if you've been to half the claimed away games that's highly impressive.

However, I don't like United, like most I hate them. This clown is constantly telling me the club I follow are guilty of amongst others; selling our souls, abandoning youth, forgetting our fans, all sorts basically. Some too stupid to mention. Most of it utter bollocks. I like to defended my club (does that make me a bigger fans than you?) that's up to me right? So in defending my club I like to have my facts straight, I also don't like to look stupid so I asked those more knowledgable than me for advise. Hey and guess what they were happy to oblige and I learnt something.

Call me whatever you want, I support City, I love the club and if we never won a trophy again I'd be delighted with what I've seen and what Sheikh Mansour has built for our City..

You call into account my maturity yet your answer, to say we're better than you on the pitch so there.. We are better so I'm right? Ok, fine if that's how you feel I should argue then good for you, but we're better than you so I'm right sounds awful raggish and immature to me. I'd much rather know what I'm talking about, prove my point and move on.

I'm sure I speak for quite a few on this thread when I say thanks for coming, but you've made a bit of a tit of yourself..

Just ignore him, mate. He's just a troll on a wind-up mission. I can go back to 1958 and there are still, even now, clubs in the Football League who I can't ever recall us playing in any of the three domestic competitions, and the fact that he won't come back on here and tell us which grounds he has seen City play at tells us all we need to know. He won't tell us because he was never there and he won't back down and admit it.

Have City played at 82 league grounds over the past 40 years? I suppose that is possible if you include all cup games and a few friendlies but that would mean going to all those lovely grounds we played at in the old third division.
That's why I asked the question of which ones he hasn't been too. I'm still waiting for his reply. I guess it takes time to research the archives, even with Google as a friend.
I have done over 80 league grounds although many of those are no longer around. Some of the clubs are no longer in the league, the likes of Wrexham,Grimsby and Luton. He didn't say current League grounds so it is more than possible.

Without recourse to Google, I know I've been to 81 or 82. They include some clubs not currently in the Football League (Lincoln, Luton etc) and some friendlies (Scarborough springs to mind, a 6-0 win at Rochdale too) - all the matches when we were in Div 3 were a major boost to the tally. That period when I had an unbroken run was pretty much four fifths - it covered 3 divisions so that's nearly seventy. Then cup matches such as those at Darlington, Lincoln in league cup (missed the league game though).Only grounds I've not been to that I could have (I think!) are Millwall, Plymouth and Southend. Some I don't think we've played in the period when I started seriously going away (post 1990) - Orient, Hartlepool, Exter, spring to mind although we may have played them in friendlies. Missed Bristol City in league Cup recently, so that was a missed opp. I've included Maine Rd. Not included Wembley and not included two Scottish grounds I went to: one Falkirk, 1-1 draw I think and the other we won 4-0 played either Kilmarnock or St.Johnstone, bit not sure which. And not included any europeans: Porto, Juventus, Copenhagen and...TNS (went to Ninian for Cardiff in FA Cup so not sure can count the Millennium stadium as extra). And I've not counted as twice clubs I've seen at two separate grounds: Derby, Boro, Charlton, Wimbledon, Reading.

Having seen some of the responses, especially De Niros I think I may have found the reason for my "differences" - age. Maybe as I've got older I've grown out of trying to find any ammo I could to hit back at Unitd. I remember when all we had as ammo was the not from Manchester stuff and I used it to the hilt - we had very little else to fall back on. Work was fucking hard most Mondays (and often beyond) - they came well and truly into the ascendency whilst we travelled, in a reverse Midas-touch fashion in the opposite way. My main years of following City were the fucking wilderness years. winning a derby was all I ever wanted at one point - remember, after we beat them with Mackenzie 1-0 I'm fairly sure the 5-1 was the next time. And as for winning at OT, well and truly pipe-dream stuff. Until now - where our team can do the talking. I remember workmates just laughing at the lack of things I could bring to the one-upmanship - maybe that's why, now, when I know we can let our team do the talking, I don't see the point in trying to make points elsewhere. But, as I've said, each to their own - maybe if I were 20yrs younger I'd been giving them grief over the Munich thing - and also have City's results to ram home our superiority even further.

My user name - absolutely fuck all to do with anything other than Johnny Tapia the great boxer - loved to read about him/watch him so please don't think it's anything whatsoever to do with Bad Boys 2 baddie or whatever!

A fish called Keegan - nice one. Let's hope it lasts longer in that goldfish bowl than the one he lived in at City.

And, to draw a pleasant line under our differences - my lad's first match yesterday. he's six. All he's known is good times and fucking great players. Long may that last.

Re: Arguement ref United and their treatment of Munich surviours

Between 82 and 87 I missed 9 games home and away, league and cup. 87 to end of 88/89 season I missed 3 home games, although I was living in Gibraltar at the time ! 89 to 2002 I probably missed about a dozen home games. 03 to present day I've missed quite a few tbh, but I've seen a pretty fair amount.

Not for one minute do I think this makes me a bigger blue than the next man (or woman). What makes a blue is his or her's PASSION for the club, attendance at every game whether it be home or away is irrelevant. If one watches City on the TV, the internet, or is lucky enough to be able to attend the games live does not matter one iota. We are as ONE.

What matters is we care about City. What matters is we care about each other. If we lose this, we become like them.

Well he says he did the old Div 3 games, so I guess he was there!

Yep, was definitely at York. All this reminiscing bollocks made me check through the fixture lists and to my eternal shame I did in fact miss a match in that Div 3 season - Luton away. Think we got a 1-1 draw. Having checked current league tables I can say I've done:

All current Premier Clubs (although not all grounds if that makes sense: eg I've been to Ninian but not the new Cardiff stadium. Same for Southampton). That's 20.
21 out of 24 championship (not Brighton, Millwall or Yeovil)
17 out of 24 League One (not Orient, P/bro, MK Dons, Crawley, Carlisle, Stevenage, Bristol C)
12 out of 24 League Two (not Southend, Burton, Fleetwood, Newport, Dagenham, Morecombe, Exeter, Hartlepool, Cheltenham, Plymouth, Mansfield, Accrington)

So, of current league clubs that's 70.
Ex-League clubs (they were league clubs when I went) that I've been to:
Luton, Grimsby, Barnet, Wrexham, Macclesfield, Lincoln, Chester, Stockport, Scarboro, Darlington. Of those now non-league, it's quite staggering I only saw us win at Wrexham (turning point of the Div 3 season I think), Macc (another late div 3 win) and Chester in FA Cup. I can't remember the Scarboro score but the rest were draws or shocking defeats (Lincoln 4-1 in league cup the nadir, although Stockport 3-1 was equally bad).

So a grand total of 80 - not the 81 or 82 I previously claimed. And yep, doesn't make me a top blue, better blue etc, just someone who used to be able to afford following them the length and breadth when we were biz. Wouldn't change it for the world though.
