Alright guys, I've spoken to nij outside of this thread and from what he's said, the costs involved in this sound quite doable, compared to - for instance - the Mancini advert. He also mentioned that any excess could be funnelled into supporting Armani's club in SL - and anyone who has at any point followed the progress of Armani in the past must surely know how much he has relied upon our generosity to equip the team in the past, and how important donations are to a team far from the UK, like MCFC Sierra Leone. I'm sure that, for an initiative like this, there will always be a need for more equipment and support.

I know that several people in this thread have expressed a willingness to front some money and I'd be willing to throw in a sum myself. I'm wondering, straw poll time, if someone were to start up a fund (PayPal or the like) to allow for donations, would you guys all be willing to chip in? I'd like to think that if we can raise £7,000 to pay for the Mancini advert that we could easily do something similar here - even raising a sum half that size could be important - and since this is for a clear charitable cause, and something that could potentially raise a lot of media interest in Armani's cause also, I reckon that if this gained momentum we could raise a decent amount and really do some good. I don't want this to feel forced, though, hence looking for interest from the rest of this forum here first.

I'd be the first to admit that coordinating this sort of thing is not normally one of my strengths, so I'd just like to see whether people are up for this first - of course, if someone else wanted to take this on I'd be equally happy. If you want to PM me with your interest instead of posting it here I'd be happy to receive it that way, too.

Thanks, all.

Excellent post my friend. I hope there is someone on here who can sort out a Pay Pal arrangement. I'll try to PM you later when I get home from work with another suggestion.

Re: Armani - Sierra Leone

This is an utter outrage and I wish Armani all the best in his fight for justice. Hopefully it will all be shown to be the sham that it is and this evil woman will, herself be incarcerated for the Sierra Leone equivalent of defamation of character, malicious prosecution, perverting the course of justice, etc.

That having all been said, we should be careful that this doesn't turn into a "My dad's bigger than your dad" kind of scenario. What I mean by that is that is that we want justice to prevail because of the strength of Armani's case. We don't want the case being withdrawn because of a press backlash, or because the authorities fear sanctions. That would be counter productive. The actions have to be channeled positively and to get justice and to expose the corruption of the system and this woman.

Re: Armani - Sierra Leone

I sure people will support this. I will chip in.

Re: Armani - Sierra Leone

I'm friends with Armani on Facebook and have followed his inspiring story since Howard and Co started their magnificent support for the SL branch.

We can't let one jealous and corrupt witch get away with evil shit like this, folks.

Re: Armani - Sierra Leone (merged)

'Integrity, sanity and discipline'? Best of luck Armani, God knows what corruption you're up against.

Isha Johansen in race to be Sierra Leone FA president
By Mohamed Fajah Barrie
BBC Sport, Freetown
Isha Johansen says Sierra Leone football is in "a terrible state" and is determined to be the next president of the country's football association to make the necessary changes.
The 47-year old has already founded her own Sierra Leone Premier League club, FC Johansen.
She is also well known for her work with youth football in Sierra Leone.
She is the first candidate to officially declare her intention to run for president in July's SLFA elections.
Johansen says she has taken her inspiration from the current president of the Burundi Football Federation, Lydia Nsekera, and Izetta Wesley - the former head of the Liberian FA.
"Nsekera is doing a good job in Burundi and I'm following her footsteps. I'm planning to contact her and Wesley to learn from them," Johansen told BBC Sport.
She believes that she is in the best position to bring about a change in Sierra Leone football.
"The SLFA is in a terrible state and I want to make a change," she declared.

I've exposed talents and also helped in the re-branding of Sierra Leone in the world

Isha Johansen
"I believe I'm in the best position to bring about the change. I'll bring integrity, sanity & discipline into the SLFA."
Johansen is not daunted by the fact she is set to be the first ever female candidate for the SLFA presidency.
"There are two types of people in this world - those who make history, and those who are part of making history," she said.
"If the delegates were to endorse and believe in me, they would be part of changing the face and the fate of football in Sierra Leone.
"My contributions to Sierra Leone football are immense, I've exposed talents and also helped in the re-branding of Sierra Leone in the world."
She is expected to face a tough challenge, with seasoned football administrators Rodney Michael, Alhaji Mohamed Nabie and former international Brima 'Mazola' Kamara all set run for the post too.
Johansen has a public relations background and became involved in football administration when she formed her club FC Johansen in 2004.
She rose to prominence in Sierra Leone football due to the successes of her club in international youth competitions over the last four years.
FC Johansen won the Swiss Under-16 Cup last year, defeating Liverpool in the final and winning the Mitnordick Cup in Sweden in 2009.
She also organised two youth tournaments in Freetown in 2009 and 2010 featuring teams from Africa, Brazil and Norway.
