I got my start date yesterday for the royal signals. Got to wait til the 6th of september for phase 1. Even if you are just thinking about it, get the ball rolling! Will take you around 7 - 10 months to get in(well it has for me).

Got a few mates doing that, they love it! Like anywhere, you will have scrotes and people you get on with! You'll see this when you go up for selection in edinburgh, half are nobs you wouldn't talk to and the other half are people you would. But everyone gets along!

My boss's son is in the Parachute regiment. He wants to specialise as a sniper because his sniper oppo has apparently got three hundred (yes 300) confirmed kills.

Just think, through a 12x scope you could actually lipread what they're yapping about on their penultimate heartbeat.

How cool is that!

Good luck, I am still serving after 33 years although in the 'Blue' uniform not green, it can be a great life and you will make friends for life. Good luck in the future and always remember 'listen and learn'
