They spent less than Watford and Leicester despite finishing 5th last season. No wonder half the fan base is pissed off with the board and their puppet Wenger.

If their fans weren't so obnoxious I doubt I'd have that much of an issue. The problem is they're insufferable. Their club tried to stop us spending and their fans despise us for actually buying players - something they forget helped them to challenge in the 90s. They've had their time, now it's our time.

arsenal have come out of this transfer window in a dreadful way, theyve pissed their fans off, theyve pissed their players off, they are supposed to be this super well run club, they've come out of this looking like a tin pot club.

Where is all of Arsenal's money? We've paid them a small fortune over the years and if even Everton can spend so much in one window why aren't Arsenal? Who was the last young player Arsenal improved? They are sleep walking at the minute

Their real supporters ( 10 % ?) must be totally sick of the shambolic running of the club by the arrogant Wenger and a board who are more interested in dividends than improving the team.

The other utter fuckwits thoroughly deserve what is happening before their eyes at almost every juncture, and for them, please let it continue. If they decide to jump ship the Rags could well see their 659million swelled.

Which top player would want to sign for Arsenal given how they handled Sanchez.

Player desperate for a move. Great money is offered. It's clear he's not interested in playing for the club again and yet they decide to hold him prisoner.

They really are a sinking ship.

We don't know how lucky we are with our owners. Arsenals owners, with their ticket prices, finishing top 4 (until recently) every season have been fleecing them for their own benefit. They can't even use the ground development as an excuse anymore. It won't be a happy board room at Tarquin central this morning with the money lost. Those superyacht refurbs don't pay for themselves.

Don't think I've ever seen a big club in such a mess as arsenal are in. When Sanchez and ozil leave for free, they're left with next to no quality. Cech and koscielny are getting on, bellerin is wank, as is monreal. Xhaka isn't good enough, neither are Ramsey and elneny. Wilshere is leaving for free next season, so that's another player less. Cazorla is always injured, pretty sure he's out of contract too. Walcott and Iwobi aren't bad, but they're squad fillers at best for the rest of the top 6. Lacazette and giroud are there only quality players that could get in most squads in the league. So I think they need a new GK, CB x2, LB, RB, CM x2, AM x2, RW/LW. That's a lot of cash for them to get back to being a good side. If they don't have a sort out regarding their ownership and management, they're going to be fucked for the years to come.

thats the funny thing. they are keeping these players to get them back into the chumps league, but then will have to replace virtually half the team..maybe even more.

looks more to me like wenger wants to keep all the big guns, get back into the chumps league this season and move upstairs as a hero and arsenal bring in a new manager to sort his shit out (a lot like what ferguson did). if the same process runs out, they are looking at a good 4 years in the wilderness.

There's no fool like a old fool, add stubborn, arrogant and French to the equation then you've got Wenger . He got lucky when he inherited the Arsenal team built by the previous two managers, to which he added French players who were unknown outside of France, in the main. He continued with the solid defence, players who knew each other inside out going on to win titles and cups. He has to be credited with changing English football for the better when, he introduced a more scientific approach at Arsenal that was adopted by others. Once the defence started to age, other clubs caught up and the supply line from France became non exclusive, then the truth about Wenger was revealed but he had become the king and ruler of Arsenal and now he will not budge, gets his own way and the owner is happy to let him make more money for him. It's coming to the crunch though, made a massive miscalculation signing a new contract when he had the opportunity to bow out on the back of another FAC win. I said nothing like an old fool and the way he has treated Alexis proves the case. Will be interesting what Alexis' reaction to the blocking of the transfer will be Wenger will hope that he knuckles down somehow I doubt it

I understand where youre coming from and i believe they handled it terribly but he is under contract still and they have every right to hold on to him

Top players don't need to watch how they handled Sanchez, my friend, all they have to do is actually remember how Arsenal's top players have behaved through the years. After reaching a certain point in terms of developping individually, they all decide to leave. Because they realise that they cannot fulfill their ambition in terms of winning trophies by staying. It's not just about the money. It's about the club's strategy, spending as less as possible, going after the minimum acceptable goal (top 4 = CL football). Funny thing is that they could have done much much better even within the above mentioned framework, there's no doubt in my mind about that. Provided they could identify their weaknesses in terms of personnel. And provided they had a better tactician at their bench. Which leads to Wenger's incompetence. So it's strategy + manager. That's too much...

What I'm trying to say is that it's a pattern repeating itself through the years, their best, ambitious players eventually leave. Sanchez's decision can hardly come as a surprise. As far as I am concerned, it's a miracle he stayed so long...

This guy gave Arsenal everything. In critical situations he would be the only player on the pitch refusing to cave in. Arsenal have developped a soft mentality through the years (and there are reasons for that), it has become part of their identity; when things got tough the team would usually fail to handle the pressure. Alexis was the exception, definitely an inspiring figure for his teammates (even though it seems that in the process he became a "problem" for some of them)...

I can't find another reason why they chose to keep him against his will. But it's too late, his cycle at Arsenal is over, it will take a miracle for this situation to change, it definitely cannot with Wenger in command. Who apparently is relying on Alexis's professionalism and leadership. But that burden has been too heavy for people like RVP, Fabregas etc in the past. Wenger and the board know it, they were there, but haven't learnt their lesson. I'm afraid they're about to experience it again. Even for a mentally strong, top player like Sanchez, it must be really really, I mean really tiring, constantly fighting alone out there...

Bottom line is that Arsenal have been ungrateful to Sanchez, their attitude last night clearly reveals disrespect. I'm sure that even Arsenal fans, the intelligent ones anyway, will agree that he did not deserve this shit...

Agreed, they've done him wrong. Take away Sanchez and they finish 10th last season.

What was I even saying which top player wants to go there. But now even up and coming players will question going there. Lacazette must be regretting his decision already.

Arsenal have been a stepping stone club for years but when you see the Sanchez saga and how they kept him prisoner, not much of stepping stone when you have to see out your 5 year contract.
