Arsenal (A) | Community Shield | Post-match Thread

Didn't expect us to win it considering where both clubs are in terms of their pre-seasons. Not fussed about it either, when it was clearly their cup final, which is hilarious because they were only there as we can't play ourselves. Shame to lose it from a winning position, so late on. I only watched the highlights, and Akanji looked like he had a terrible time of things. We were closer to them than I thought we'd be, so positive signs for the season ahead as we shouldn't be taking so long to get up to speed.

Their players seemed over the moon to win it. Clearly Arteta had them pumped for it. If they think it means they've now got the beating of us, they'll have a real surprise. Liverpool thought Haaland was shite, Nunez was the new Torres and they were going to win the lot after the game last season...didn't quite turn out that way.

Their celebrations were absolutely embarrassing.
It just shows how big we are now I guess. Celebrate
like you have won the Champions League when you beat
us in a pre-season friendly.
You're mistaken, they really don't care about us, so they say.

Being in my 60’s and In the highly unlikely event I’m ever called up to serve my country I really do hope that I’m not stuck in the trenches with some of you on here as I’m ashamed to say I’d have to consider giving myself up to the enemy to save myself.

Putting aside the fact that the Community Shield doesn't count for anything, as a lesson learned we need to make sure we always manage games out appropriately.

The reason they scored was that, in the last few minutes, we just sat back and tried to defend the game out. We invited the pressure that led to the goal by doing this. The only player who was trying to defend from the front by pressing them during those last few minutes was KDB.

We have proven time and time again, in much more important games, that game management is vital. Although their goal was an unlucky deflection, it wouldn't have happened if we had managed the game better in those last few minutes.

Regardless, we will come good when it actually matters I'm sure. Up the Blues.

Yep a few of our players were just hoofing it away
