Defensively we played really well, especially considering we had no Rodri, however we couldn't get up the pitch in any meaningful way and our attacking plan relied on doing exactly that so we offered zero threat all game. Seemed to play like we were 5-0 up and had no intention of scoring.
Think pep got the attacking side of our game badly wrong again, we had to adapt to the extra defensive responsibility put on so many of our more attacking players but we didnt. He seemed to expect them to do more defensively and then also do the samr attacking roles theyre used to. We had about 5 minutes in their half when stonrs came on and that was the sum total of our attack today. We had to use the direct route more to get up the pitch and miss out the midfield which was the weak link, instead we did nothing.
Our very good start to the season has turned into a shit one within a week. 2 loses already and we've played nobody before today. Obviously its not panic stations, we know what we can do when it comes to it but we've never had such a small squad before. We've seen how threadbare we look with just 2/3 injuries, we can expect that many injuries many times throughout the season, if we cooe as well as we have done in this period, were winning nothing. Got a seriously brutal run after the international break. The whole team needs to step up 2 or 3 gears and pep needs a rocket up his own arse and create a way of playing that sees us create opportunities and not just rely on somebody to do something out of nothing as we have done for large parts of thr season so far if we are to get through to christmas in a good place.
As for Arsenal, they were only missing Saka, They won and that's what matters at the end of the day but it was a fluke goal. they didnt impress me in the slightest. There's just nothing fearful about them. Liverpool are far more of a threat and Spurs could be too if they continue as they've started.
