Fuckin Shocking!​

Even though we gave away another silly early goal, we played OK in the opening exchanges, BUT as soon as we equalised, ArseAnal stepped up the pace which exposed the true state we're in.

Normally we'd have several gears to go through, but with this tired, confidence lacking team, we couldn't respond as we used to & the Arse tore us a new one!

During the first half, we applied zero pressure to them, & gave them all the time in the world to sit back, set themselves & play out of defence untroubled.

ArseAnal were wary of the old City, hence why I feel they didn't go for it after taking the lead, but once we equalised & they regained the lead, they stepped up the pressure & literally squashed us!

Moose was anonymous. Kovacic was all over the place & everywhere apart from where he was supposed to be. Nunes & Foden kept losing the ball & there was nothing Bernardo could do to glue us back together.

Nunes was totally ineffective as an attacking force, hence why I don't get why he played the forward wide role & Gvardiol played deeper as part of the back three.

Haaland spent more time pointing to everyone where to press, than he did pressing, & even then no one responded until KDB came on after 70 minutes when it was all too late.

This season's hurting. It's hurting really bad. However, I feel being brought down to earth with an almighty bump maybe the best thing to make us all wake up to this new reality. Missing ONE player in Rodri, having several CB injuries & Walker's exit leaving us with no RB has caused us to totally collapse.

My only hope is this chastening experience drives us on to be ruthless with rebuilding our squad. The fear factor's gone. Our boundless energy has evaporated. We're a shadow of our all conquering selves & we've only got ourselves to blame.

My MoTM is Bernardo. Not because he played great, but because he kept on running & showed desire & frustration, when those around him were stood around & when they did run, they were like headless chickens!

To make matters worse, our tepid performance made ArseAnal look better than they are. Over to you Pep, Txiki & Hugo. At this rate, even Conference League qualification may be beyond us this season.
 
I'm not even annoyed. The table doesn't lie and the rest are streets ahead, today isn't a shock.

What fans need to understand is this team or the vast majority of this team have give us the treble and 4 in a row.

They've had the downturn in form and intensity that I thought would happen last season or the season before that and this season it has happened.

No biggie. It happens and is happening. Yes we could have planned for the inevitable but we haven't so we have to crack on.

Top 4 is the priority now. Forget anything else. We will have to get through this season and there will be more batterings coming for us unfortunately but we have to take our medicine and suck it up.

All you posters cryarsing and going overboard on the criticism need to realise what this team, this club and this manager have given you these last 7 or 8 plus years.

Onwards and upwards.

If today is the yard stick for big games then we may as well all just hibernate for the next 2 months. It’s the lack of giving a fuck from the players that really gets me.
 
The most passes leading to a goal in champions league history, anyone else see that clip City posted this morning??

Basically I thought to myself "so what" who cares how many passes it takes to score a goal, that style of football is boring, we should be cutting through teams with ease.

Defend deep, let City pass the ball around the Box for 20 odd passes and then hit them on the break when they inevitably lose the ball, that's it! That's the template teams have been using to beat us all season, only Pep knows why he won't change our style of play, we don't even have the creativity to play that style, we've got Bernie and Kova who pass sideways, Phil who's easily muscled off the ball and Kev who's lost that sharpness, we have to change the way we play, it's too predictable.
 
Sunday league individual mistakes aside, the midfield is fucking horrendous.

We are so easy to just run through and are non-existent whenever countered.

I do feel for Kovacic but he’s actually comical in that role. He’s a million miles away from having any defensive understanding whatsoever. It’s actually cruel playing him as the DM.

I couldn’t really tell but was Marmoush supposed to be playing LM? He’s not a midfielder so I’m lost with whatever the idea was supposed to be?

Lewis-Skelly MOTM for me. Superb player and superb athlete.

Lets be honest, we probably need 6 or 7 guaranteed starters to come in, not just squad filler or unproven kids.
That's a huge job ahead of us
 
The rebuild will take 2 more transfer windows and then we could find ourselves too far way off the better teams,
Manchester City and Pep let this shit happen in the summer and we needed cover for Rodri 3 seasons ago

One big stand-out lesson, Pep and City have learnt the hard way that the Premier League is the best league in the world for a good reason and why its not a farmers' league, because City champions 4 times in a row don't get respect and the others teams don't roll over,

Pep said maybe he made a mistake in the summer ? Well that's because he thought City would get respected and helped by the league and teams would be scared of our ageing players.

It's a lot worse than I first thought and it's not injuries to blame, it's City Pep has let a full season go to waste
Players are being allowed to coast and get away with it because of the injury crises and an easy way out.


When was the last time a City team coasted a game and season and did not fancy the fight and lost with a white flag being waved,
 
We need a massive rebuild, that’s a given. But Pep has only signed for another season.

If he isn’t going to be doing the rebuild then I guess it will be someone else.

We gave them that game today just like lots of others they weren’t good until we gave them the equaliser Their keeper made good saves int he first half ours flapped at things
 
Funny thing is Arse will finish second again. Sky trying desperately to manufacture a title race when its clearly a foregone conclusion.
As for us, the season cant end quickly enough so we can press the reset button.
