it is steeped in us to be pessimistic before every game lol! When you consider our record away to Arsenal,our 'style' of play and theirs and our seemingly total inability to defend you can see why people aren't hopeful. It is called being a realist it doesn't mean we support them any the less or hope we are proved wrong.
See, I don't believe this. It is called hedging your bet. If we do get spanked, well, you can tell yourself you aren't disappointed or surprised, and you'll have the internal (and external) comfort of having "predicted" it. And if we win, then you can revel in the fact that we won and being flat-ass wrong won't matter a bit.
So as I see it, you risk nothing emotionally.
Not a criticism -- I completely understand this behavior. But don't call it "realism."
