Anyone going to this is a chump who is telling Arsenal and everyone else that it's alright to charge fans £62 for a game of football. How long before £75 (three years?)...£100(ten years?)?
It doesn't make them a chump, it just means they are profligate where following City is concerned.

I've been called a johnny come lately in the Norwich thread and now a chump in this! All because I support my team and choose to go watch them. Yes its expensive infact its stupidly expensive but i dont believe in the greater scheme of things a few fans choosing not to go is going to make one jot of difference to future pricing. How can I afford to go? Well for starters i'll stay in Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. I suspect the guy calling fellow fans chumps will think nothing of blowing £100 on NYE paying to get in places that are usually free and paying treble time for a taxi. Can he do this? Course he can its his choice just as going to Norwich & Arsenal is my choice and I'll save cash elsewhere to allow me to do so. I'm all for cheaper prices and would support any organised protest by football fans of all clubs in general to highlight the issue but a few people mouthing off on here isn't going to change things.
As it is we all know the score you either go or you dont but no blue should be criticised for going to a game! At present we have a newcastle away thread where fans are being criticised for not going and we have arsenal and norwich threads where fans are being criticised for going. Seems we cant win whatever we do

Count yourself lucky, you dont have to prove you are not a JCL tourist glory hunter to people that couldnt be bothered going to games when we were shit.

Re: Arsenal AWAY Ticket Details.

At the end of the day, those that can go will and those that can't wont. I fully agree that the prices have become a joke but we charged £50 plus for derby tickets.

I will be going to Arsenal to support my team as I have done since getting my first season ticket in 1976. That doesn't mean I am a "chump".

You talk about New Years Eve but that's an annual spectacular whilst away matches are becoming more expensive all the time at a far more frequent level. You'd need a huge night out that regularly in order to make a fair comparison.

Lots of my single mates will easily spunk a couple of hundred quid each and every weekend going out.

Fans other other clubs (The old top 4) were getting ripped off long before we burst onto the scene these past couple of seasons.

The whole point of having a big fan base is that if I or you don't attend, Someone else who doesn't go that often, so doesn't mind spending a ton on a day out goes. Which is fair enough.

If we don't sell out this I'd be embarrassed. Saying that our end will have quite a few Chinese tourists in being in London

Re: Arsenal AWAY Ticket Details.

Unfortunately, with wages/transfer fees only getting higher, fans will have to pay. It's disgusting but every single game premier league game has been sold out since we moved there, not going to change unless people stop going.

Yes, but your real die hard fans have stopped going haven't they ? They have just been replaced by tourists and new age fans who are quite happy to pay whatever it is for a season ticket just to look "cool" You can tell by the amount of divs in your ground.

for example

Arsenal don't pay top wages or transfer fees, so what possible excuse apart from lining the boards pockets have they got for charging the prices they do ?

Like you say though, as long as there are people willing to pay, they will continue charging high prices.

Our wage bill is the 4th highest in the premier league if I'm not mistaken even if we don't pay plays 120k + per week. Due to our poor commercial deals (which are all up for renewal soon), fans have most definitely had to pay in recent years. Games are selling out, they will always sell out. ST waiting list is 40,000+ but these are cat A games. Our other games are a lot more affordable (£25 for cat C games and £35 for cat B). Personally, I try to attend all Cat C games and the only cat A game I attend/attended is Spurs. £62 is just the cheapest, upper tiers go for £80+.

As long as people pay, club will continue to do it.

No excuse, Bayern Munich make loads of money without ripping off regular fans. The money comes from corporates, hospitality, and commercial deals It's greed, plain and simple, and Arsenal are the worst offenders for it followed by Spurs and Chelsea in that order.
