Arsenal FA Cup SF Post-Match Thread

Hope Zidane did not watch this game. Really hope.

Arteta knew exactly and was part of many similar failures like today earlier this season, dominating, having large possession, opponent having 3-4 shots all game with incredible conversion rate, while we keep passing around their parked bus and having no end product and then changing to useless crossing vs very tall defenders and who is ready to receive the ball for a header?
Sterling and David Silva. They will never win a header vs 6'2, 6'3,6'4 defenders. They put 3 CB's in today for a reason, very clever by Arteta he knew will be forced to cross a lot.

Soton pretty much did the same against us.

If teams much weaker than us can do it so often this season as many times it happened (Norwich, Wolves 2x, United 2x, Soton etc.) we clearly have a huge weakness which are being punished.

Giving Arsenal the first 45 minutes without even attacking them in an FA-Cup semi final imo is criminal. Where is the passion, the attitude? Why we had shot off target in all in first half?

They had 1 less day to relax for this game. Against Liverpool they played similar, but Liverpool actually was testing their keeper with 8 shots on target and the keeper had to make some proper saves unlike today.

Very poor for an FA-Cup game which was supposed to be the most important game after the Covid break even though Pep kept talking how important to get CL qualification done in PL.

Now Real game is the most important, but they are different animal than this Arsenal squad and they just won La Liga which will boost their morale surely.
Pep needs to be tactically faultless there and the team cannot play only 45 minutes line today.

Crap defence of the cup, far far too slow everywhere on the pitch. Hopefully that's the bad game done with. Play like that against Madrid and they're more than capable of giving us a horsing, which they would f*cking love to do, so don't let that happen guys.

I started a thread but it was removed for some reason but for me the narrative has to change.

sick of hearing will pep extend every press conference.

Wih our squad a return of the league cup is simply not good enough, we have lost 9 games in the prem as well as losing to a very poor arsenal side at arsenal.

he has done wonders last 2 seasons But on current form pep does not deserve a contract extension,

stop acting like he is doing us a favour by managing us !

good one. Laughable post - you need your head testing

Lots of knee jerking going on. Best team didn’t win the best defensive team won though. BT going on about Arsenal’s back three, it was a back five which became a back seven / eight at the end. Think the set up in the first half was wrong and we corrected in too late. Starting 11 was probably wrong as well. I would have started Ferny and Rodri instead of Garcia and Gundogan but you have to trust Pep. Should have had a pen at 1-0, not sure what VAR was looking at. It was almost as if our focus was purely on CL and anything we did tonight was a bonus. At least we now have addd rest before Madrid but we have to step up our intensity if we want to progress.

On the bright side we won’t be humiliated by Utd in the final as their pace and finishing (and Var) will kill us.
On the down side the team needs a major overhaul. Zero pace in the team, lack of leaders, shocking fullbacks and general defending, and just no threat up front with the usual 1 in 10 shots on target

Embarrassing non performance. Sluggish woefully slow start ,just continuing the lethargy of mid week.
Not a good performance on view for us and some abysmal ones from Walker,Gundogan,Jesus,Silva,Mahrez,Ederson,Laporte shall I go on
Is that the best Pep can serve up when faced with a massed defence?- lobbing useless balls to 5 foot nothing lightweights.
Not like we haven't seen it before is it. Like throwing pebbles at a bulletproof window. If a school team of 11 year olds did that they'd soon figure out it was futile. Surely the definition of stupidity is repeating the some mistake and expecting a different outcome.

Pathetic is the only word to describe that. We never looked up for it, and were just pedestrian for 90 minutes.

Only positive for me was Garcia, besides that fuck all else.

Confirms what we all knew we needed in this transfer window. A quality left back is desperately needed. Have hoped and hoped Mendy would come good, but I think it's last him now. A centre half, a left back, a winger & a striker are a must this window to speed up the rejuvenation of the squad. And get Bernardo right as well.
Garcia is a good prospect but not sure what positive you saw in his game today. We didn't have much defending to do but didn't look particularly convincing at any time.
