Arsenal FA Cup SF Post-Match Thread

Whilst the good folk of Leeds continue to party for the third night running it would be nice to not start looking at the game at Elland Road as tricky. Our away from is such that currently Im concerned about the majority of away games next season. The last goal I celebrated here was from Paulo Wanchope!

Fantastic performance by Paulo that night......straight off the plane from Rico !

well beaten.

Europe's best aren't really going to be scared of that are they.

oh well, still time you fix it. Lost 3 of 5 away form the Etihad since restart

Too many people with a blind spot for David Silva, and his total ineffectiveness against the more energetic teams.

Wolves simply bypassed him at the ETIHAD, and should have won by a bigger margin. It was the same against the rags, and the same on Saturday.

A midfield that contains both Gundo and Silva has so often been problematic for me. Similar to when Gundo and Rodri play too. Too slow especially when we lose the ball. I think we’ll see a different City next season. The defence will get addressed and we’ll hopefully have some more energy in midfield. Two massive shoes to fill with Ferna and Dave. We need to get Foden playing more and hopefully get Bernardo back to the form we saw 2017-2019.

We do have some problems elsewhere and need to add some quality but there is no point to that without a solid defence, so this seasons window is all about strengthening at the back. 2/3 new defenders.

I agree we need to replace 2/3 defenders but having 16 shots on goal and only 1 on target would make it difficult to beat a team in the bottom three. It's been a problem throughout the season.

After having time it was the final 3rd where we lost the game on Saturday we had enough chances and really promising moments in the final 3rd which were either wasted or the wrong option taken or poorly finished. Yes we were nowhere near our best but actually looking back at it on most other days we take them chances and win comfortably. By the way I'm fully aware how many times this has cost us this season.

I don't suppose the way we pay our players has anything to do with it?

Second place secured, first place gone, one cup secured but probably no extra money incentive for this cup, CL main one where perhaps some.extra PL money has been added?

Our ‘B+’ team will usually beat teams upto the top 8.

Our ‘A’team no longer can be relied on to beat the top 6.

Either the top 6 have improved exponentially, they’ve worked us out or we’ve regressed.

We have to many ‘B’+ players and not enough ‘AAA*’ players to return to the Centurions level.

6 out 4 in and more game time in the cups & sub appearances for TD, HTB, JP, CP.

Time to be ruthless Pep or we will repeat the mistakes of the past.

Last nights match endorses this view.

Will Rodri, Len, Garcia, Mahrez, Zin, Jesus, Stones etc step up in the big battle games when the pressure is on to win the six pointers ??

Last night was almost like a training session, 12 games a year are like a war and I’m not completely convinced that we have the warriors !!

Winning the last 14 games on the bounce in a treble winning season tells me different...jesus christ...

That’s why a word like stagnation is much better than shit for instance. A creeping sense of stagnation from the players, the style of play and even some supporters. Maybe a few changes and fingers crossed fans in ground may add a bit of impetus.

I just don't get how a team like ours who have won countless trophies approaches such an important game with this mentality. It isn't the first time this season though which is why we have lost nine league games. At times we have meandered through games thinking we are so good we will just win. Football is unforgiving and if you go into a game half baked you will suffer. Pep will know the culprits and root them out at the end of the season.

We need a dressing room leader, DeBruyne isn't it, not sure who is (Dave? but he's leaving). If we didn't have Kompany for that 2019 run in we'd have finished 2nd.

One of those games where we continually tried the same thing and it didn't work. Pep is magic but he should have changed it, Raz to the right for a spell, double up on the left where Mendy had a lot of space but no support. Foden should have been given a free reign inside to run and probe and generally we should have upped the tempo and at least looked for 'give and go's' to get behind them more. Jesus on his own against a wall of defenders and trying to feed on lobbed crosses that even the Arse defenders could deal with...... I said that we'll have all the possession and they'll just boot it forward and score......oh well, roll on Real Madrid :)

Yeah I think a post 16/17 style reinvigoration is what's needed.

Always like to let the rage die down before i post:) i think this game was a lot like the Bournemouth game wrong team and intellectually slow, but that is not the biggest worry for me, Pep is starting to get an awful record against his mates or people he praises, and with Leeds coming up it is a habit he is going to have to drop.
