Arsenal (h) post-match thread

found the fan noise ok but got a bit tedious towards the end

the gulf in class is stark to say the least

fingers crossed for eric, hope he ain't too bad

The lack of a home crowd and fitness will impact Liverpool (and many other teams) more than us. Our passing game isn’t as reliant on match fitness as much as the dipper’s high octave game plan,

Must be hard for them to hit those notes.

Player of the Season - Kevin De Bruyne

An enjoyable game and not much difference for TV viewers.

The quality, given the layoff and circumstances, was high and once the Beautiful Blues smoothed into gear after adjustment, it was a pleasure to watch once again. The third goal was typical City - from Ederson quickly through a few players and in the back of the net. Superb.

We have done the Blue Toffees a favour.

Many positive performances last night. I have not missed any of the punditry and associated game spoilers off the pitch. On the pitch it was largely a pleasure except for the injury to Garcia and Sheff U wrongly being denied going above the Rags.

The world has changed and the way we watch football has changed with it. Football`s ability to embrace the new normal and the match going fans part of that will be crucial. An essential element will be lower ticket prices.

Gladly City are still high quality and, on the pitch, at least for those Zeppelin fans among us, `The Song Remains the Same.

Bring on the Clarets.

Firstly, I quickly formed the impression that without the crowd setting the mood, the Sky Commentary Team felt obliged to chatter incessantly throughout, which works for cricket-radio, but soon infuriates when you don’t know the outcome of the Sterling VAR Red Card, because Gary Neville is ranting on-and-on, about Arsenal arriving by plane in stormy conditions.(does it f***ing matter?)

Similarly, rather than doing his job, and informing his audience, as to which City player was lying semi-unconscious, Martin Tyler preferred to expand his opinion on Mane’s Red Card in 2017 (not that he hasn’t already given it on every available occasion)

It was the same for the City penalty, which was actually created by the pace of Mahrez’s first touch, rather than Ederson’s overhit clearance. However, Neville seemed absurdly determined to credit the City goalkeeper, mainly because Mahrez should have done better with Ederson’s previous assist.

As for the game, Arsenal soon crumbled after a promising start, when they obviously targetted City’s lack of pace in the centre of midfield. I don’t think De Bruyne was half as effective as Neville suggested,(one early sloppy mistake almost gifting Arsenal a goal) but Mendy and Walker both looked sold, and Jesus full of running. Gundogan was far better once Silva had been relaced, and Aguero had a weird 20 minutes.

As for Sane,s future?

God knows, but we’ll have a better idea after watching his body language over the next few weeks.
