Arsenal (h) post-match thread

When it was announced the PL would restart I was not happy and wasn’t even looking forward to this game or any other without fans.

but the City itch got me and I thought the fake crowd noise made a big difference. Without it the game is literally unwatchable imo.

what a performance. Another De Bruyne Master class. Loved seeing him take the penalty, hopefully he continues to take them. Garcia was brilliant, hope he’s ok. A lot of other top performances as well.

Really happy with how we played and how much I enjoyed watching, as someone said I had to have the crowd noise on as well.

Arsenal are in big trouble

Thought it was a very good performance from everyone. 20 minutes to settle down and then total dominance. Whilst the slick movement was very impressive I was more impressed by the general fitness levels and hunger. We won almost every 50/50, were first to the ball 9 times out of 10. Performance didn’t drop when multiple subs came on, if anything the tempo quickened. Special shout out to Phil. His performance was excellent, direct, fast, intelligent. He certainly looks ready to take over Dave’s mantle.
Arsenal were Arsenal. Arteta has a massive job to do. Bye bye Luiz.

I thought we played well considering, not quite match fit but some good patterns of play when we started moving it quicker. Off topic, I know we were never going to win the league but I have to say that no crowd mostly takes away the home advantage, which is unfair. In big games the crowd can be the difference, just look at how hostile the dippers make klanfield when we go there, we won’t have that when they come to the Etihad

With no crowd baying for blood when one of their players falls over in the box it might leave the dippers in the relegation zone next season.

One thing that was worth football coming back was how my kid loved watching the game.

He hasn’t really talked about City since lockdown and realised we won’t be going to games etc.

However when we scored he leapt up and ran around the lounge singing.

Look, we know times are utterly shite at the moment, and we’ve discussed on BM how we all feel about the restart etc but we need to also remember how the kids have been affected.
My kids world stoped with lockdown. He was playing footy for fun almost every day, did street dance, drama, karate etc and it all went. They’ve not been to school. They’ve not seen their friends.

He’d forgotten how much he missed City but tonight, on the sofa, cuddling me and then jumping around the room singing about Sterling was pure joy for him and me.

Of course - he then went to call his arsenal supporting mate to take the piss but that’s the banter.

So we may not be there but today was something special for my 10 year old- and I’d imagine quite a few other kids too.
Great post, I can feel your emotion. My 14 year daughter isn’t really into football (although she has been to a few games with me). The world has stopped for her as well, no school, drama, friends. So, the start of the football meant nothing to her, I look forward to the day when she can finally do something she loves again.

The lack of a home crowd and fitness will impact Liverpool (and many other teams) more than us. Our passing game isn’t as reliant on match fitness as much as the dipper’s high octave game plan,
