Arsenal Post Match Thread.

Same old errors and inability to put games to bed, and or defend a winning position.
6 or 7 of this team won't get a sniff next season, they don't have the ability, legs or football brain to apply Peps magic. It fuckin frustrates the shice out of me to watch a simple game get fucked up by idiots who can't make a simple pass and move, make space for themselves, and cross a ball with some accuracy and intent.
Second half was abysmal, Arsenal were there for the taking, and we don't take the game to them.
Chelsea won't lose two on the trot ffs, at least I doubt they will, unless the entertaining, exciting, energetic and ruthless City turn up.
Got to finish in the top 4 this season, have a clear out and rebuild where necessary over the summer, and get to it next August.
It's been a steep learning curve for Pep in the Premiership, and the team to be honest, but he plays a simple game, keep the ball, pass and move, attack, score more than the opposition, and win the ball back sharpish like. Problem is, the players can't do it consistently throughout a game, let alone from match to match.

A pressing game with players who can't or won't press was never going to work and it so it has proved.

I'm not buying all this negativity about the performance today. It's incredibly small margins at this level, and the Arse on their game could have destroyed us. We limited them to a few chances, and had more than a few chances ourselves, and could have easily beaten them by 3.

I also think the notion that bad decisions by the match officials even themselves out over the course of the season is (in our case this season) absolute bollocks. The likelihood is that if the various penalties, sending's off, bookings, offside goals (for and against) and other crap decisions had gone our way we would be a lot closer to the top of the table, if not top.

I really don't know what people expect of Pep; he's not the Messiah. He's a very good manager who basically inherited Pelegrini's team, and along with a few of additions of his own, 2 of which are long term injured has had a good first season (hopefully finishing in the top 4 with an FA Cup win) in an incredibly difficult league. With Gundogan and Jesus in the same team as Silva and Aguero, and a solid back 3 or 4 we would be absolutely unplayable. With the lack of a fixed unit at the back with a real leader (Kompany), we have been leaking goals.

Next season though...........

Now back to the Gin.

@Metalartin The list goes on decisions decisions decisions pens offsides week in week out:(

With our defence there are no assumptions that can be made.
True but I don't see us losing it, might not have been 3 points agreed, it was going like the West Ham game though I felt(if I remember right it was the game before we trounced them 5-0 but it took a while for our possession to show before the floodgates opened after the first goal went in) the chances weren't going in and we collapsed mentally in that second half there's no better way to describe that IMO.

Arsenal were shit and there for the taking, we were shit and couldn't do it, game was awful.

Pleading for red cards and penalties just papers over the cracks.

Roll on the summer this season has been just as bad as the last one, but at least we managed a trophy then.

Never win a thing when you have the record we have against the top six, no leaders, no fight, no bottle.

Our track record of signing defenders with Pep as manager ain't bad though... hopefully will continue
We have only signed Stones so far and whereas he has been nothing like as bad as some critics would have you believe, he is still very much a work in progress.

Can we all agree that Clichy is past it and has cost us time and time again this season?

Is there a reason you have to put 50 question marks in every post? If not can you stop doing it.
I don't put 50 question marks in every post, also I don't think we "throw away" points against teams like Stoke, when I played football we didn't throw away points when we got beat 13 goals to two???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I thought it was silly getting our hopes up even if we managed 3 points today, I can't see Chelsea losing as many points as they need to, while at the same time us winning maximum points in all the big games we need to. That would require us to be a lot more clinical AND refs having the balls to give Manchester City the correct calls and there's obviously some unwritten rules that say that cannot be allowed to happen too often in one season.

It hasn't happened at all this season but it's not the reason we aren't winning leagues or progressing in CL. We just haven't been good enough. It's as simple as that. There are at least 15 players now in this squad whether here or on loan that are not good enough anymore. We have a big rebuilding job on our hands here now. Bad planning, bad signings and letting players rule the roost for too long. There are some encouraging signs with Sane/Jesus/Sterling but we are still a mile off having the squad to win the CL which is ultimately why Pep was brought here.

I agree with that the squad shouldn't have been allowed to end up like this for Pep's first season. However we are still creating more chances against all the top opposition though Pep is very correct in saying that, which is why I pointed out if we were clinical then despite our ageing defence that are being asked to do things they aren't equipped for mentally and physically we'd be winning those games even this season especially when you add in the refereeing calls that haven't gone our way(video referees next season?)... which is very encouraging for next season for me.

Agree with every single word of that!!

It's a mentality issue for me. We just sat back after scoring and it was like the first half against Monaco. As much as individual mistakes have cost us this year from defenders, I do get why Guardiola refers to the attack so much. It isn't just about the creation or scoring of chances, it's their workrate off the ball at times that leaves our defence so exposed.

It was a shame today as I really thought Arsenal were there for the taking. I do think Guardiola is already looking to next season though and the one criticism I would have of him this season is that I think he has swung from being overconfident with some players in the first few months and what they could do to now being the opposite and that is having an impact. We really do look lethal at times, it's how to get that over a full ninety minutes.

goal posts thinner......!!!!....never going to happen is it so a pointless contribution

i agree on the sending off....ive said that numerous times now.....cocqulin should have gone for a second yellow when he clatterd into (KDB?) when on a break away....stone wall certain.

i agree monreal misses his header as he is trecthing but the handball isnt deliberate at all....he even says that to kun..it comes off his head and hits his arm...his arms are moving that way cause thats what happens when you jump

tongue in cheek meaning we were unlucky regarding hitting the post , you are one argumentative bastard , who just cannot admit when you are totally incorrect , by trawling the internet for irrelevant videos trying desperately prove your point. You talk about other posters having issues , f*cking hell take a long hard look at yourself
