Arsenal post match thread

I don't think getting 97 points is blowing it. The conclusion that drives me to is that they were good but not as good as we were. Let's see how it goes this season....
They was 7pts ahead of us coming to ours in January and 10 in front of spurs.
Whichever way you dress it up they blew a 7 point lead over us and a 10 point lead over spurs.
They could have had the league sewn up with 2 maybe 3 games before the end of the season but they didn't as the blew it.

They have form for blowing it. See under Rafa. See under Rodgers. See under klopp.
That's what gives me hope, faint hope granted but there is always a chance they will blow it.

As other posters have said, watching KDB at his best is pure joy.

Hes the best in the PL at understanding how best to position himself before the ball actually arrives to him

Hes then usually forward facing & uses pace of incoming ball & his positioning to take out closest marker.

As he gets into that forward facing position quicker with ball ahead of him he has more time to both assess
his options, either another forward touch to drive further forward himself or lay off..
Trevor Brooking (Westham and England 70/80s) was also a master at this ..no real pace and not a regular goal scorer but In central midfield he would always be a step ahead in receivingthe ball sideways on in the manner you have descibed above...

Brooking. .was however one footed. ..KDBs ability with either foot makes this particular skill ,potentially ,even more devastating. ..The counter attack is truly explosive from deep. .The player destroyed a lot of teams for his last club in Germany picking up the ball (esp.in away games ) deep ,receiving sideways ..and often playing a fantastcally accurate 50 yard ball to either wing...or simply driving forward himself to the edge of the opponents penalty area...I've seen him do this countless times for Belgium too..utilizing the speed and trickery of Hazard, on the counter, to maxium effect.

Even a cursory glance at footage of KDB before he joined us would show him receiving the ball in this manner countless times ...it makes you wonder why 'expert pundit' Paul Merson was so negative about us signing Kev a few years back...A fantastic player.

Mahrez played as though he was drunk!! What was he trying to do ??
Confirm what we all know.
A complete waste of £60 M .
Not what we need now or indeed when he signed. A luxury player without a consistent groove of form in him.
Mind you..he is at the age now where his former team mate Billy Whizz somehow, mysteriously , got faster and faster as he turned older so there is some hope yet for the ex 5000/1 team member to do the business. .or sink without trace like a lot of them after 18 months.

They blew it last season. A couple of draws and a couple of defeats and it's on. Never say never. We have to be on it obviously but I think it's possible.
they have to loose at least 5 games and we have to win every game

They blew it last season? They were magnificent last season loosing one game, but were beaten to the title by a truly magnificent team in Manchester City.

I can certainly see them dropping points (hopefully more than 12 so we remain the only centurions) - it's us winning all our remaining games as well that seems less likely...

I really believe the Arse have a deep seated mentality issue that started with Wengers last unsuccessful rebuild. Their players will, like a lot of players, take a dive whether fouled or not. Whilst if feckin annoys me whoever does it they will consistently do it in attacking position rather than stay on their feet and see how it plays out. It's a losers mentality and was obvious when Wiltshire and Ramsay were there. Our guys want to see how it develops. KDB v WBA and Sane v Cardiff come to mind.
Areta or whoever, has a tough job instilling a winning mentality imho of course.
