Arsenal post match thread

Bit like our Geordie friends they justify it by telling us they are protesting against current regimes. Laughable really.
Home seats 85 - 95 quid a matchday ticket yesterday as well and we moan at ours being up at around 60.00.

£15 for certain CL group matches (i.e. Atalanta). That's what I got. My seasoncard's just gone down to nearly half what I was paying (over-65s). Not every club does that, and I believe none of the London clubs does.

Zinchenko looked so much brighter in the few minutes he had. Better first touch, more confidence to look wait and for the right pass and better execution when he did pass. It's such a key position for us. Thank God 'Kev' is back!
Alas, I was quite harsh on him before his injury but after watching the horror show - at times - of Mendy and the brief cameo of Zinchenko, I was thinking exactly the same you've eloquently written.

My two big City topics coming out of that game would be:

1) The stunning performance of KDB. Had Leno not made that save, we could have been talking about one of the finest hat-tricks ever!

2) The formation. Wasn't a 4-3-3. Seen it described as a 4-2-3-1. When I saw the line-up I wondered what was going on. Will we play this again?
Possibly. Mr Guardiola is a notoriously stubborn man but the half hour "horror show" at the start of the derby must have been a humbling experience that possibly warranted a change of philosophy.

interesting game, and we can only really analyse the first half as the 2nd half was some sort of weird non-contest. Seen as Sterling's lackadaisical approach in front of goal, Jesus's wayward targeting and Foden's early hook (weird) mostly came in the 2nd half, we'll let them slide.

Anyway, great performance, well done to all. There is no doubt to walker's commitment now, he is throwing himself into everything, but i thought he was going to get sent off at one point. Well done to him though. On the other side Mendy is clearly a while off being confident but he's getting a bit better. He still passes like a 9 year old. Arsenal tried to sit deep at RB and draw him out to create huge holes for Pepe (which they did on occasion) but his athleticism is a real foil to this tactic. When Rodri plays like this (and Burnley away), the entire team blossoms.

one last thing - did Mahrez run more distance towards or away from Arsenal's area?! he did two barnstorming 50 yard runs yesterday....backwards :D
Ha! Definitely away. A player who has little or no confidence or even worse, a rather expensive "flop".

Most of them were cynical dont you know!

Turned spit off in the 1st half. Joke.
Respect to you for lasting for fourty-five minutes. Eagerly waiting for kick-off and then I hear his snide, arrogant tone. I groaned, pressed mute and then changed the stream only to spend the rest of the game listening to the dullard Lee Dixon. What beggars belief is that they were both two average defenders who have never coached or managed an elite football team in their entire career and yet they pontificate as if they've been there, seen it and done it.

I think with the right personnel(=not merlin sadly), i think the 442 when we defend is going to make us a very good defensive unit in the long run. Got to love Pep drawing inspiration from everywhere

With the fluidity of movement, at times the 4-2-3-1 was a sort of 4-2-2-2, Rodri and Gundogan with Foden and KDB in front of them, and Sterling and Jesus infront of those two, with width from Mendy.

They blew it last season. A couple of draws and a couple of defeats and it's on. Never say never. We have to be on it obviously but I think it's possible.

I don't think getting 97 points is blowing it. The conclusion that drives me to is that they were good but not as good as we were. Let's see how it goes this season....
