Theo's contract does run out next Summer aswell, talks scheduled for after the Euro's so I'm guessing he'll be off on holidays for a bit and then return to discuss terms. I have a feeling Theo will look closely at the RVP situation as those two are friends and have some decent chemistry on the field.....and I have a feeling he'd be tempted by another club, but the reality is that to step up from us in England he would need offers from United, City or Chelsea......haha, not sure I see that happening.

He's a very limited player, good for 10+ goals a season and a good number of assists but his overall game is pretty average, looks like he's falling over the ball half the time!! He's reasonably effective for us but holds us back just as much, if that makes any sense.

I probably would rather keep him unless we are getting a definite upgrade, and with Arsenal, that's rarely the case. Chamberlain will be better in time but he's too raw right now.

Give us 20m and I'll drive him to Manchester? LOL

I hope you are talking Lira!!!

I was thinking vietnamese dong!

Surely The Professor hasn't bought a player?

I thought that he nurtures the youths as soon as they leave their dads pecker and get it on in the ovaries?

Well you live and learn eh?

They've nearly paid for the new stadium, so they can start going back to the old policy of buying players. No need anymore to go overboard on the PR spin about 'the right way' and developing talent. I expect them to buy over the next couple of years to fill the holes in their squad, slowly at first, but picking up speed and price as more revenue stream becomes available. They'll probably say they have to break their wage structure as well, blaming the 'irresponsible' clubs for upping wages so that the fans they've brainwashed with the 'right way' tagline over the past few years don't suddenly realise they were led down the garden path.

Fair play to Arsenal I suppose. They upped their income in order to stay competetive whilst managing the expectations of their fans; not easy to do. They nearly got caught out with the financial meltdown, and the other 'big' clubs have also mostly found/are finding ways to cut themselves adrift of the rest of the league, but now the future looks rosy off the field it'll start looking rosy on it as well.

Yep, our cash streams arent good enough atm, mainly because we tied ourselves into long-term deals 7 or 8 years ago for some security with the stadium being built. Seemed good business at the time but we are getting killed by the other top clubs when it comes to shirt revenue and sponsorship deals.

I think our shirt deal was roughly 5m a year, Liverpool are getting 4x that if I remember right and they are going absolutely nowhere fast. Fulham probably get as much as us in this regard too for some perspective.

The CL money was the big one, if you'd missed that it would have been awkward. The shirt sponsor deal doesn't look too good now, but that's hindsight for you. There was nothing wrong with it at the time, and the right thing to do with the longterm plans re stadium. Isn't the kit deal up for renewal in a year or two though? That would be a nice boost to the finances.

I can see Arsene Wenger quitting at the end of the season, but I can't see him taking over the France national team though.

He's already turned down the French national coach position BUT.... I have a very good friend who gets info from Arsenal and he told me at the end of last season that if RvP was sold to City specifically, Wenger would walk.

Let's see if he is right.

Arsenal plunged into civil war as Usmanov blasts chief Kroenke after RVP bombshell
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2169165/Arsenal-crisis-Alisher-Usmanov-attacks-club-open-letter-Robin-van-Persie-snub.html#ixzz1zkWr1BYY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... z1zkWr1BYY</a>
the Gunners hierarchy have now been questioned in an open letter from Red & White Holdings - which is fronted by Russian billionaire Usmanov
Red & White feel Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has given the impression there is a 'bitter stand-off' between themselves and the hierarchy
'These are the financial model, the lack of investment and club's future strategic direction.
At the heart of this is the policy of so-called self-financing.
'The previous decision by the board to fund the building of the Emirates Stadium with long-term debt was, we believe, certainly not about self-financing.
Now the Arsenal fans know, huge power struggle a £600 million debt that ain't going away & money restricions in place.
