Arsenal plunged into civil war as Usmanov blasts chief Kroenke after RVP bombshell

the Gunners hierarchy have now been questioned in an open letter from Red & White Holdings - which is fronted by Russian billionaire Usmanov
Red & White feel Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has given the impression there is a 'bitter stand-off' between themselves and the hierarchy
'These are the financial model, the lack of investment and club's future strategic direction.
At the heart of this is the policy of so-called self-financing.
'The previous decision by the board to fund the building of the Emirates Stadium with long-term debt was, we believe, certainly not about self-financing.
Now the Arsenal fans know, huge power struggle a £600 million debt that ain't going away & money restricions in place.

Unfortunately for Arsenal fans there just aren't enough shares left for Usmanov to buy atm. If shit keeps hitting the fan then I reckon things might change, but it has hardly affected the Glazers. The fans need to rebel, but those champagne swindlers are to apathetic to do anything meaningful.

I thought they had nearly paid off the stadium, or had the process in hand? I assume thats the £600M, or have I missed something?

It's on the BBC website as well (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18722962), and I have to say that Uzmanov has summed up what I have thought for a long time;
"Mr Kroenke was sold a vision by the board at a time when the club could be successful without further investment," it reads.
"As a consequence of this policy, which is dressed up as prudent financial planning, it is down to our manager and not the shareholders, to have to deal with the club's tight finances, carry the burden of repaying the stadium debt by selling his best players and having to continue to find cheaper replacements.
"This policy is leading to the loss of our best players, often to main competitors, and even causes the players themselves to question their future at the club and the club's ambitions.

Can't help wondering if/how much Kroenke takes out of the club while it's not in a position to pay the going rate for footballers.

Obvs leaked on purpose. PR war between the rival factions at arse.
Yup, really exactly what we didn't need right now after RVP's bombshell yesterday. And this is what makes Usmanov a slimy cretin. He's timed it perfectly and for maximum effect seeing as the majority of Arsenal fans are wavering somewhere between anger, hurt and utter despondency. It's all designed to create conflict in the hope that everything will implode and he can swoop in and play the hero by saving the day. No thanks. It's been a horrible 24 hours for Arsenal but I can't even imagine what it would be like if he got got his greasy paws on the club.

I don't like the look of Usmanov either (I'd rank him alongside Shinawatra on the scale of people you don't want to get their grubby hands on your club) but what has Silent Stan done for you exactly? Clearly, like Uncle Malc & Hicks/Gillett he saw a cash cow and borrowed the money to milk it.

And let's not pretend that boardroom strife is a recent innovation at Arsenal. David Dein, Nina Bracewell-Smith, Keith Edelman & Richard Carr have all been victims of it at some time.

Usmanov has a point that the board have piled debt onto the club to finance the building of the Emirates, then made you, the fans, pay that debt, while ensuring that they have taken no risks themselves and even used this to sell their shares at huge profits.

All this crap about "the right way" pisses me off because it's sanctimonious claptrap. Yes, Arsenal have done a lot of things right and they've played a scintillating brand of football which I've enjoyed watching but it was Danny Fiszman's £50m cash injection that enabled Rioch & Wenger to restore your fortunes after being in the doldrums during the mid-90's. That money is, in real terms, the equivalent of the £500m Sheikh Mansour has put into us the last 4 years. Yet, like Liverpool fans, you delude yourself that your "right way" and your "history" entitle you to eat at the top table. But it's even beginning to dawn on the less deluded scousers that their owners are just playing the percentages and that they might be doomed to upper mid-table mediocrity for quite some time. It could quite easily happen to you as well.

I'm not pro-Kroenke and I don't think he's done anything at all for the club. I think there is a huge question mark over his ownership. However, I want what's best, long-term, for Arsenal. I'm not convinced it's Kroenke, I'm even less convinced it's Usmanov. He wants to cause chaos and division and to turn the fans against Arsene and the board. He's attempting to do that with this letter and to an extent, he's succeeding. That letter is designed to cause trouble and he is the sole beneficiary. He has his best interests at heart, not Arsenals.
