For me Arteta is gone and has been for a couple of seasons. They have nothing in midfield when games arent going their way, they dont really have it in them to grind results out against a decent side. They are suffering with injuries i know, but not sure why Flamini was on the bench.

no argument about how poor we were, but to say we have nothing in midfield is a bit over the top.

today we were missing ozil wilshere walcott and ramsey, the latter who was the best player in the league till he got injured. they are 4 first team players, and make a huge difference to the team.

Not even close.

basic stupid reply.

I was one of the Arsenal fans today in the Shed Upper Row 3 just to the left of he goal as you look at it.

So I had an excellent view of the game and goals.

Before the start when I saw the team selection, I winced. No Flamini? What was Wenger thinking? And Podolski on the left? He's been hopeless there. As for the Ox in midfield. He's indisciplined and gives the ball away too much.

I feared the worst and having been in the away end at Anfield, events turned sour very quickly and in a déjà vu way.

Tactics were insane. Team selection was crap. I know we had key players missing and don't have the squad strength of Chelsea but we should never lose any game by that margin. I have been to City away, Liverpool away and now Chelsea away.

We are back to where we probably belong battling for 4th spot.

I feel pissed off and will finish the rest of this bottle of wine and seek solace in English cricket (oh fuck!)

I hope City or Liverpool win the title. I can't bear the idea of Chelsea winning it who by the way seem to attract a particularly obnoxious type of fan.

just to elaborate, basic and stupid because even if you don't agree he was the best, to say he was not even close is just silly. i think he was the best but most people would agree he was at least 1 of the best 2-3 players at that point, which is why he was being talked about as being player of the year if he carries on that form.

-- Sun Mar 23, 2014 12:20 am --

same here, city or liverpool for me.

liverpool winning it would be a bit gutting. at least if city win it, we can tell ourselves its because they have a lot more money to spend on their squad and therefore have been able to assemble the best squad in the league (all of which is true).

if liverpool win it, it would say a lot for arsenal as we are the closest team to them in terms of how we've been over the years/spending, not having quite as good squad as chelsea/city etc... and for them to get over that line so quickly and easily whilst we have struggled with arguably better teams would be a bad indictment on wenger.

I just reread this post and accept it might seem like rambling bollox but in this alcohol fuelled haze, I couldn't give a damn. Hic!

whats worse is ox is in the refs face saying it was him, why on earth would the ref not listen to that?.

Seriously? The same people who habitually lie just to try and get a fuckin throw-in decision? Hardly the most trustworthy bunch are they?

Valid last point there.

If Rodgers can win it with less, then it kind of suggests Wenger is lacking tactically.

I think it's quite apparent that Wenger is not the greatest tactically, but I don't think Liverpool will win the league and I don't think you can underestimate the effect that a lack of European football has. Still the reasons Arsenal have failed to win things in recent years is mental strength rather than anything tactically. Not beating Birmingham and the famous collapse in 08 have nothing to do with tactics.

because theres no sense in lying about that, surely the ref should question that himself, why would ox be saying it was him who done the foul?

Wenger realised his mistake and in the last couple of seasons has gradually integrated more winners and leaders in the team, he has reinvigorated and reinvented rosicky to be a key component in our squad and finally he's now bringing in young hungry British players who are ready to fight for the team when the chips are down.

You say we struggle in the big games but....I know this team, this group of players together have proven they can do the business at the proper nitty-gritty period of the season I.e. title run ins, cup finals but to totally dismiss us as weak and lacking in leadership is just ridiculous.

The only problem with his reply was that it was far too polite.
