Said all along that their real fight was for top four as City, Chelsea and Liverpool are miles ahead of them. They have a real battle on their hands now to be in the Champs League next year.
Long and short?...bottlers.Gillespie said:adrianr said:Scholes just tore, and I do stress the word tore Arsenal a new exit hole. Felt like he'd been building that one up for a while!
What did he say?
They have bottled it before and for a long time. I personally think the reason they turned into bottlers is because Wenger got rid of all the experience in the likes of Vieira, Henry, Gilberto, Pires, Cole and Campbell. Fair enough some of them wanted to go, but he should have kept the others and they would have won more.Gaylord du Bois said:No mate they're perpetual bottlers full stop.supercrystal7 said:I don't think that's fair to call them bottlers. They simply lost most of their best players and had no one to replace them. No Ozil, Walcott, Ramsay and Wilshere. Just loook at the team they put out today I would say the Everton team put out was better. Now the blame goes to Wenger if he had the money and chose not to spend it, but I am not sure that's the case. In the last 5 years I would bet that Liverpool and Tottenham have a much bigger net spend than Wenger.stony said:Let's hope the annual Arsenal capitulation carries on, for our game at least.
They really are the biggest bunch of bottle jobs the Prem has ever seen.
That being said Wenger has been poor tactically and not rested injury prone players.
They perpetually bottle the league, they perpetually bottle the transfer window and most of all they've perpetually bottled replacing a manager that hasn't one fuck all in five hundred games.

I don't believe Wenger is stupid enough to have all these millions and not spend them. Even if we are to believe that Wenger is refusing to spend on transfers then up until this summer why has he refused to spend on wages? If they had offered competitive wages then would all of RVP, Song, Fabregas, Kolo, Adebayor, Nasri, Clichy and Cole all have left? Yes they want to win trophies, but money helps a lot just look at Rooney.
How about we compare just how much Liverpool have spent net in transfers with Arsenal over the last 6 years. This is very rough and with the figures I could find but over the last 6 years Arsenal have a net spend of roughly -4.5 million. Now that's even less than Tottenham's 4 million odd which includes Bales's 90 million transfer fee. They are completely dwarfed by the spending of Liverpool at 88 million. So that's just a comparison with the clubs around them.
When we compare them to the major three then it goes crazy. Man United have spent 140 million net and that includes the sale of Ronaldo for 80 million. City have spent near 480 million net and Chelsea have spent 280 million net.
Now those are rough figures, but you get what you pay for most of the time in football. Yes City started at a lower base than Arsenal, but United, Chelsea and Liverpool have not. Wenger has managed to remain competitive with a net spend that Palace would be upset about. If Wenger is choosing not to spend the money then he is a fool. However, for all his faults if he does not have the budget then he has done a very good job with the resources he has and managed the club through a difficult period.
It probably is and sadly that is probably the most profitable way to run a club like Arsenal. Keep them constantly in the CL, but never spend enough either on wages or transfers to win things.Gillespie said:supercrystal7 said:They have bottled it before and for a long time. Maybe that is the business model of Kroenke. Profitable mediocrity.

The og tonight was just unlucky. That's the way it goes sometimes.
On a general level I think Arsenal are too open, and the injury to Ramsey has really hurt Arsenal. When he was playing at the start of the season he was every bit as influential for Arsenal as Suarez and Yaya are now. His goals gave them confidence
They are capable of beating City and will go out there with a point to prove, so I hope City go there knowing what a big performance is required. I hope we have it in us after the Derby. Often it takes a while to recover from these games

As much as I'd like to believe you, having witnessed witless performance both Saturday and tonight, we will get stuffed by you lot Saturday. We haven't a hope in hell.
I haven't felt this depressed about my team in years. I can see Everton overtake us for 4th place. Our match Sunday week at Goodison is a cup final must win, but I can't see it. I will be there like I was at the Etihad, Anfield and Chelsea.
I must be a masochist..
