Decent argument apart from the bit in bold. You, the rags and Chelsea dominated the PL for prior to 2010 for one reason and one reason only and that was because you all had more resources than anyone else. If we've proved anything over the last 5 years, it's that there's nothing special about those three clubs that isn't as a result of having more resources than everyone else.

I dont think you can lump us with United and Chelsea in how we won our titles, when we won them United were breaking the British transfer record every summer, and Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds and even Chelsea constantly outspent us. Chelsea did it by buying big, and so did you, nothing wrong with it, but the summer before our "invincible" season, we spent a total of £3.6m on a goalkeeper.
If we had more resources than everyone else, we would not have moved to a new stadium, the whole point of the move is because we knew we cant sustain success without huge money, what we did then we cant do now because football has changed, the only way to succeed is to spend, and to keep spending. There is no other "special" way.

very good point, and the fact that it's been pointed out that it was simply about having the resources and nothing else special, means you also have to accept that if wenger DIDNT have the resources but still managed to find top players and keep us in the top 4 IS special.

TECHNICALLY, it's not in our own hands.

Although our goal difference give us a lot of comfort, we have no say over Arsenal's next 3 performances, and they could (theoretically) win all three and make up the goal difference. It would only be in our own hands if other clubs games could have no bearing provided we won ours.

It's not in Arsenal's own hands either, as they depend on our results and goal difference.

Technically, it is. If we win our last 2 games then we have a minimum goal difference of +11. If Arsenal score more in their first games, we know that we have to do better and therefore, it's in our hands.

Never heard of Danny Fiszman then?

no, it's not.
We both play at the same time on the final day of the season and if we're equal on points it's entirely down to goal difference. At that point neither Arsenal, nor City know what score will confirm 2nd place, and neither can influence the outcome of the other game. Even if City 'hear' the Arsenal score, then Arsenal can hear the City score... the same problem applies.

That would suggest that we could not influence our game yet Arsenal could.

I wonder if Aguero et al got the nod about what they needed back in 2012. Those bloody tranny radios, hopefully there'll be better technology in the future to keep us informed.
