Just what I was thinking.
It's ok defending well against mid -table sides like the rags , but to ship 5s and 6s against your direct challengers for the title ( or just top 4) is a cause for concern.

it was 3 games out of 85+ over 2 seasons (including champions league games). The rest of the games against the top teams, including every top team that came to the emirates, were very tight from what i remember. yes its something that certainly needs sorting, but those 3 games was down to the whole team not just the defence.

I think the point is I'm trying to make is, Arsenal always look a bit vulnerable to me. May be it's more down to having insufficient
cover for that defence. Players like to get forward but do a Yaya when needed at the back.

i wouldn't necessarily disagree with that, but teams who play attacking football generally can sometimes look a bit vulnerable, city have done as much as anyone else. there were plenty of games i remember where it looked like the other team could score against you, even the 6-3 we could have scored more (and of course you could have as well). but the point stands.

The point would stand if we'd conceded 5+ in any game let alone 3...

the guy said it wasn't in relation necessarily to those 3 games it was in general, which is what i was replying to, that in GENERAL your defence has often looked vulnerable as well but the difference is you've had the firepower to negate that to a successful extent and we haven't

I do think Arsenal need a quality DMF. Maybe Kadeira would be the right person, but currently they don't have it. Flamini started well, but seemed to fade quickly and sometimes they get extremely exposed at the back. Their MF and forwards are up there with everyone, but I still think your 2 players short in DF areas.

I agree with you and that is why we have addressed what we need defensively. In the past Pellegrini liked to play 2 defensive mid. There will be games where we play Fernando and Fernandinho in the middle so Yaya can get forward more and not be so dependent to defend. If you guys get Khedira that might help, but Arteta and Flamini aren't quick enough to cover when the ball is lost in the midfield. You guys will do well and overpower the teams in the lower half of the table with slick play, but against teams like Chelsea well.

Khedira is exactly the player they need.

Arse are very strong going forward and a pretty solid back four.

Just need the extra protection that Arteta will never give you.

I agree, sometimes just Flamini at the back wasn't enough. Most teams can play 4-2-3-1, but Wenger seems to prefer 4-1-4-1, which doesn't screen his defence enough against the better sides.

Also Flamini missed a few games through injury and suspension, and Arsenal have a decent back four but hardly any cover for their two central defenders. They escaped injuries last season so were fortunate to keep a settled central pairing, but if they had had injuries like we had last season then I think Arsenal's defence would have been shown up more for their lack of strength in depth.

Am I the only person to think that Sanchez is significantly overrated? Better than Jesus Navas but not as good as Raheem Sterling. I will view Arsenal as a threat only if they get a midfield enforcer and a vastly improved defence.

So much is wrong with this post.

I'd make them title favorites for the league if they get Khedira.

But you seem to think so much is right with your post? Title favourites, fuck me!
