Wenger now saying that if he hadn't gone to Rome on deadline day that they wouldn't have signed Welbeck.

Never rated Wellbeck, but after further thought, I reckon he might suit Arsenal's style of play.
Now he is no longer a rag, I can evaluate without prejudice. He will see a lot more of the ball,
ie not watching it disappear over his head and he will also be encouraged to link up with his
team mates, rather than just boot it out to the wings. Having played for the Trafford Stoke
for too many years, he will now awaken to what real football is about. I know many on here
have no love for "The Tarquins", but you have to admit they like to play a bit. Too much sometimes.
That is why I'm looking forward to the game on Saturday. Could be a cracker.

Welbeck is the worst player in the the top 4 divisions. I'm not worried at all about the prospect of him facing us.

Arsenal did well, but the formation still does not work. Wenger is going to have to make some big decisions. It seems clear to me that the current team is suited to play 4-3-3. Ozil is terrible and he is not going to get any better playing on the right. He was awful today. Welbeck offers more options than Giroud even if he does not score as much. Flamini is still a limited defensive midfielder and Monreal is just a poor player. They were too exposed today, despite their midfield getting the better of the game. They will look better when Walcott comes back and they can play a traditional 4--3-3, but not sure Wenger will go for it. I still have them to do their usual season. Get into the top 4 ahead of Liverpool and go out of the CL in the second round.

ozil has no place in a 433. work rate and defensive effort does not exist for him. he really needs to play in the hole or he is a big liability.

Yep. It really annoys me when managers copy stupid things other managers did ie Loew playing Lahm in midfield or now Wenger playing Ozil in the middle. You addressed why he has no place there and only Germany's strength in other positions carried them through.

I don't see Liverpool and Arsenal both missing out, because realistically I don't see Everton taking it from them. I think Everton will actually give the cups a real go.

On another note it was nice to see Wilshere showing signs of recovering his form, but still ran the ball too much and gave it away too much. Was also weak defensively.
