Arsenal Thread | 2024/25

He’ll have to learn how to step up in big games first. Has been anonymous every time we have faced them I also get the feeling he doesn’t fancy the physical side of the battle too much either. I’m surprised more teams don’t go and put a hit on him early in the piece.

The difference is when Allison was fouled your player was competing for the ball and made a movement toward Allison.

Ben White for instance, would know where the ball is going to be played, and he will literally plant himself in an area that blocks the keeper's pathway to the ball. In a literal sense, all he is doing it standing rooted to a spot. White literally just stands rooted to the spot like a pot plant. There is no 'literal' foul.
That would be obstruction.

Interesting away games for these and Chelsea today. Will be an interesting title race if the Dippers have a couple of draws.

Was out and didn’t watch the game. Let’s ask laugh at Arsenal. Let me get this straight-Arsenal are title challengers and City aren’t? Ok then…

If City were to get its shit sorted, it’s imperative we get to second place. It’s much easier to chase one team than leap over three.

Having said that I Will be relieved when we hit 40 points!!

I think they do look better than us. I'm not sure our injuries are clearing up any time soon, and even if they do the players will need some time to get up to speed. However, after the run we've been on they should have opened up a decent gap on us and they haven't.

I suppose you are correct but I can hope/dream. Often, see the Rags, it’s the hope that kills you

Arsenal are brilliant at set pieces, but won't make many friends with the amount of time it takes to actually take them

I hadn't noticed until Martin Keown referenced this deliberate tactic whilst commentating at their CL game in Porto last season, but if a corner gets headed out for another corner the ball is literally out of play for 2 minutes.

The match officials never seem to include it when calculating the added time, especially today when only 5 minutes were given (despite it taking almost 3 minutes from Saka's "winning" goal to it being disallowed)
