I'm happy with the point. Winning was irrelevant as we're not overtaking the Dippers and so ensuring a CL spot is important and Everton away can be tricky. No new injuries as well.

Madrid looked fucking dreadful against Valencia today btw so there shouldn't be fear factor for the team vs them
I honestly think they don't give a shit about the league these days. They were playing shite in the league when we played them too.

Having watched the latest penalty incident that Arteta is wetting his knickers about, I just can't see how you can't argue it's a penalty once given. Miles Skally had his arm around the attacker, can't keep up, and falls over. There's contact, an arm around the waist. Sometimes they're ignored, sometimes not.
Agreed. I had to watch it when I heard all of the BS from Arteta. Basically the clearest foul you've ever seen before he reaches the box, and then once he's in the box, he fails to properly let go of the player, so he's basically giving a penalty away for the whole action. Experienced defenders know to let go before the line and make a big show of it.

clearest foul my tits.

It was a contest and the referee just decided to upgrade to penalty. As bad as the decision to send Skelly off v Wolves.

If Skelly ever got caught with an ounce of weed, he is doing 25 years for distribution.

Skelly is 'sketchy'. If he walks into your shop, don't take your eyes off him and presume he exists to nick something.

Are you you that clown Ty.

It just highlights the total inconsistency (I am being kind by calling it that) in officials. Dipper England, cannot see fouls for us v Leicester and ignores Savinho having his shirt and shorts almost pulled off for a clear penalty but a few days later gives that against Arsenal.
I could put this in the referees performance thread. I think City is a soft target. Because we are universally despised, on the verge of being confirmed as serial cheats, no incorrect decision against us will ever be scrutinised or challenged. It's a free hit for weak or ambitious referees.

Compare with a wrong decision against Liverpool. Almost immediately, PGMOL issue statements of apology, referees are suspended, decrees issued that Liverpool must be considered with favourable decisions for the next ten games.

Listen mate, you small clubs cant get away with WWF style defending in the box.

If this Skelly fella is any good we will be swooping in for him in a few months time #FeederClub

Every so often I end up biting on something I read on social media that I find so absurd that I just can't leave it. I had Arsenal fans this week claiming they were having some kind of miracle season because they're second in the league and in the champs lge quarter finals despite the injuries they've had this season. I can only derive from that that Arsenal fans don't rate their own squad at all if they value this season as anything other than disappointing. Now if they were to beat Madrid over 2 legs, baring in mind it's the first proper side they've faced in the tournament so far then I'd be happy to revisit the discussion but frankly getting an easy route to the quarters and languishing so far behind a decent but ordinary scouse side is a million miles away from miracle territory to me.

Just had to get that off my chest. Arsenal fans make me laugh.

It was a soft penalty but basically don't put your arms all over an attacker (or let him get the wrong side of you) and it won't be a pen.

I don't like this narrative that's creeping in (and amplified by Martin Keown) that intimates we've been hard done by all season. Sure there have been some really stupid referee calls (in particular the penalty against Saliba vs Brighton, the Rice red again vs Brighton and the Trossard red at the Etihad) but we've also benefitted from the same type of stupid calls at times too (e.g Spurs should have had a pen at their place, Calafiori's equaliser at the Etihad shouldn't have been allowed to stand, Lewis Skelly should have had a red at PSV). So has every club, it's just that fans tend to only remember the ones that go against them.

The refereeing is terrible in this country and it would be wise to factor that in and try not to fall foul of it and not give the refs a decision to make.

We all know we'll give away a marginal penalty vs Madrid over the 2 legs where our fans will be up in arms yet could also have been totally avoidable. Someone's going to have a nibble at Vinicius or Rodrygo and then be amazed that they fall to the ground in the box.

The reason we've not won the league this season isn't the refs. It's on the board not buying adequate attacking cover and a striker. It's so obvious that anyone can see it.

The board didn’t buy adequate attacking cover and a striker because a £250m interest free loan can only go so far.

Another Arsenal fan with vague accusations
Last seen when someone tried to claim rating Foden higher than Saka meant we were all racist. At least at the Emirates they'll never run out of chips

Christ, you don't half post some shite on here.

They are so getting twatted tonight, can't wait. They're going to find out why it was so difficult for City to win it.
I used to neutral about Arsenal but their foul play and theatrics is off the scale this season. I am not sure who will win. I don't think Real Madrid are a great side. They beat us but in the leg at the Etihad but we were doing OK until the late collapse and City are a car crash this season. Half the side is > 30 and the rest injured. We have been an embarrassment this season. Just over the hill and hit by a lot of bad luck. It makes watching the CL difficult because that was once us.

For me, we have won the treble, we have done something lfc havent done. Utd havent done the 4peat. As long as the charges comes in favourable we're a made team. I dont mind being out of it for a season if thats what be.

But Arsenal are going to be smacked by Real Madrids CL antics,. the little tricks they get up to, the refs always being on their side seemingly, the staying power they have in this competition (Regardless of their domestic league status). And then Arsenal, playing at a level above them, over-awed by the occasion, looking at possibly replacing their manager if they dont do well in this at least.... I predict 7 or 8-1 over the two legs. Arteta's legacy cemented, Arsenal sack him.
