Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

You almost make sense until I politely point out that the Dippers of last season who probably were slightly better than your current lot but not by much would have been almost out of sight by now.

They did what you are failing to do and that was have the league sewn up by Christmas and in doing so killing off any moral and hope from other potential title challengers.

You talk about having hard games out of the way but in a tight title run in there are no easy matches and the quality of teams usually takes a backseat to who can hold their nerve and have a better mentality. This is usually where City come into their own. We only lose if you blow us away early. Invite us into the race (which your doing) and recent history says it’s not going to end well for you.
With respect this current City side bears little resemblance to the last City team that won the league. You seem very unlikely to win 10+ games on the bounce - a decent team will slice through that midfield and punish that defence. You can't outscore teams every week. I agree with previous City teams chasing down leaders but to me the current team looks miles off that. But we will see.

Kind of agree with that, but it’s amusing that we haven’t played that great this season and a few weeks ago pundits wrote us off and apparently Arsenal are the best team in the world (after you beat Bayern). But here we are, just 2 points behind with the same GD.

I think if you look back at those league titles when went on our 10+ winning sprees you’ll see huge similarities. I’ve given up how many times the defence has looked shaky only for it to click.

Yet Arsenal didn’t really do that at your place did they?

Look, you may well go and win it, but considering where you were a few weeks ago I would imagine there’s a few nerves starting to show …

I have said to Liverpool fans several times over the last few years, City are the last team you want to have breathing down your neck

You lot still have chief bottler in charge though lad, he'll be rounding up the pet doggies and nipping down B&Q as we speak

And when you come to the Etihad you’ll be Wimbledon style defensive like every time.
We won’t have to worry about our midfield as you’ll be shit scared to go through it. You know full well if you decide to attack us we’ll tear you apart.
There’s more chance of Captain Black staying in his tech area than you daring to play football against us.

I think to be fair the fixtures have been harder for Arsenal, plus Arsenal have played 1 more away game than City but also that point against 10 man Chelsea isn't looking quite so clever now.

Just need to get through the Xmas break, must play the Carabao team against Bruges midweek, beat wolves on Saturday and move on. Only City away stands out as a difficult game although we are home to Liverpool in the new year who I imagine may be rejuvenated with a new manager in place.

All the talk about us being 10 points ahead by now is nonsense - we've been good at home but away it has been scraped wins at Old Toilet and Newcastle, 1-0 win at Fulham and a routine win at Burnley which you'd expect us to do. We lost at the Dippers and now Villa, and drew at 10 man Chelsea and Sunderland. Not exactly terrifying form. It's the Emirates that is a fortress and will need to remain so.
A City team finding its way again a flip flop Chelsea side and Liverpool who are going to pot in all honesty you should have a bigger gap by now ...................going into the new year with a small gap is the last thing you bottlejobs need tbh

"Little resemblance" It doesn't have to its only December, despite rumors things are not won at this point of the season

Pep is building a new team which, began last January, his first objective was to stabilize and then go on and ensure UCL qualification, a bonus would and should have been the FAC.The next phase was getting the correct resources in to really charge the rebuild The team is now starting to look like one that can progress and go on to win things maybe not the PL this year but they will be there to there about.

Real and Palace not an easy week and we could easily loose both so, its going to be interesting to see if we are taking baby steps or making big progress to become a team that resembles a title winning one sooner rather than later. As of this moment its Squeaky Bum time in Narf Landon next weekend, with an easy fixture for Arse and a difficult one for City might easy the pressure but, for sure you need to keep looking over your shoulder.

To be fair it doesnt matter what it looks like to you as your opinion is about as much use as a trophy cabinet at the emirates.

Yeah but that's media trying to get clicks. Anyone with half a brain could have looked at the Arsenal team playing and figured out it was a well structured side but it wasn't Messi's Barcelona team. I do think defensive injuries played a part against Villa but last I checked other teams get injuries too so that's life.

Arsenal cantering to the league won't happen. Will be interesting to see how they react to the Villa defeat.

As far a can see this is forming into a classic season for city. (Fingers crossed)

Those previous years where City have chased arsenal down we've started slow, generally finding our feet, fallen behind, media saying we're finished..... All the way up to that time in February and March by which time we've found our best 11 and by then it's mental strength to the finish.

We've done that so many times.... Usually whilst Arsenal go flying out of the block thinking its a sprint from the start, telling everyone that City are miles off it and how they are going to win the title.

If any club wins it (other than City) I would rather it was arsenal. But they really don't do Humble do they?

Your club should take a leaf out of citys book.... "Typical City, how glad we are that we have Gaurdiola... we don't assume we will win stuff just because we are City. It's a long haul and most if not nearly all City fans knows it

I think any team will struggle to win a title more impressive than City on 2018/19. It often gets overlooked as a consequence of the Centurion and Treble seasons but to win the last 14 games of a PL season, and to have to win every single one, whilst simultaneously fighting for three other trophies (and winning two of them) is a truly incredible sporting achievement. City actually won 18 of the 19 games that comprised the second half of that season which encompassed every other team in the division. If one of those 18 games had been a draw Liverpool would have won the league.

The mental strength to do that is simply off the scale, irrespective of ability.
The Burnley game. Sweet Jesus.

It’s nowhere hear Pep’s Barcelona or his Centurions , Fourmidables , Treble winners and the team that achieved 4 in a row.
