Arsenal thread | 2025/26

A few months back I was listening to a load of Arsenal Fans calling/emailing into TalkSport to whinge about Arteta and the progress he is making.

In my opinion, he has done a very good job in the time he has been there. Trophies may be minimal, but he has got them competing at the top again - something none of the managers before him had done. They may have finished 2nd three years in a row - but they came 2nd to a Treble Winning City team, and then a Four-midable City team. I think you could pick any Premier League Team from any era and they'd have finished 2nd behind us in those two seasons! Last season was probably their best opportunity, but again Liverpool were very good and they only finished 10 points behind - along with a run to the Semi Finals of the Champions League! All without a recognised striker! If you asked an Arsenal fan at the beginning of last season if they'd take 2nd place and a Champions League Semi Final, they'd have taken it!

I think he's doing a good job, and this expectation to win the league and "Second isn't good enough" from their fans is just deluded, when you look at who they have been finishing second to! If they stick with Arteta, I've no doubt he'll win them a title, and trophies. But - lets be honest - they won't stick with him, and they'll have to start all over again with another rebuild and it'll take them even longer to win a title.

Also, who are they going to get? Who is out there now that would deliver them the title?

And looking back, I bet they wish they'd given Unai Emery more time? They'll only look back and regret it if they force Arteta out!
Legohead's don’t-lose-at all-costs attitude is what costs cheating Arsenal.

You have to take a gamble to win games, instead of taking all measures to ensure you don’t lose, in order to secure a title.

These people are c*nts. They graffiti'd last night some obscene messages about this transfer on one of our murals. All for a player who hasn't even joined yet. I wish they'd shown the same outrage about us playing (and openly supporting) a suspected rapist for the past few seasons.

These fans are the reason so many other clubs' fans hate us. We're not all like this I promise.

I was surprised 19 of his 39 goals were penalties, I’m not one for not counting penalties but 19 in a season is mad.
Kung Fu Eric, Bruce, Irwin, van Horsehead and Ratboy all got the odd penalty or two in their time.

And before someone pipes up about Franny, Gerry Daly had more than him by Xmas the following season.

Of all the penalties Frannie scored in the 70/71 season, only four were given for fouls on him.

His nickname was Lee One Pen, not Lee Won Pen!

Gyokeres deal seems done , player is inbound to Luton from Stockholm right now. Eze should be next week as is the young lad Mosquera from Valencia.

Add that to Zubimendi, Norgaard and Madueke and that's a decent window and we should put up a very strong challenge for the title as long as everyone gels. Well, no excuse for Arteta if we don't in any case.

Still talk of Rodrygo from Madrid - he's not worth the £350k salary being touted about and I'd rather have Eze anyway.

Some sales likely - Zinchenko and Kivior most likely. Martinelli would go if we got Rodrygo but like I said earlier - not sure Rodrygo is all that.

Re Gyokeres, IMHO he's acted like a bit of a **** TBH, going on strike to force a move through. Apparently he did similar to get his move to Sporting from Coventry. I hope my fellow Gunners remember this in 2 years when Madrid/Barca come in and he does the same to us.

Nwaneri negotiations on a new contract are tense as he wants guaranteed playing time. He can either play as a right winger or as a 10, so basically wants guaranteed minutes when he has Saka and Odegaard ahead of him. At 18 years old. Best of luck with that son - I can see a Dortmund or a Leverkusen come in for him with guaranteed playing time and Champions League football on offer. He's not getting guaranteed minutes at the Dippers or City so unless he wants to drop out of regular CL football he's not getting a PL move.

What’s that close to 1b spent? Pressure now on big time.

Wouldn’t worry about Madrid:Barca as he will probably be like the other crap you have bought and you will be stuck with him until his contract runs out .

We've just signed Madueke for £52m from Chelsea......

Apparently we still have £200m to spend, should be enough to get Nicholas Jackson, Calvin Phillips, Rasmus Hoijlund and Darwin Nunez though the door.....
Reckon you could bar penandes buy the whole scum squad and still have change for a bag of chips.

That’s a fucking good squad any day of the week so I don’t want to hear sharteta moaning about injuries or refs decisions
Take the loss and fucking get on with it
Nwaneris never getting in front of the two you mentioned, looks like gyokerez could be
A bit of a **** if la liga come calling but he won’t be the main man at your place like at sporting so he won’t post those numbers anyway.
So do us a favour and take 6 points from the ferals, the media will be licking their arses
All this season for obvious reasons and we can’t have them fuckers winning it again.

Apparently there’s been chaos at The Emirates this morning with Arsenal having all of their bank accounts frozen as a security precaution.

The club tried to pay Sporting Lisbon for Viktor Gyokeres and it declined due to the fact that they were trying to purchase a striker, and the bank flagged the transaction as ‘unusual activity.’
