Arsenal Vs City Post Match Thread

And Wenger claims we were systematically fouling when we had the majority of possession.

Let's not forget that it was Clattenburg's first ever Premier League game where he disallowed Pedro Mendes' famous goal that was a meter over the line at Old Trafford.

He was suspended by the FA pending a probe into his business affairs.

"How do you work with Craig Bellamy all week?" he asked our coaching staff before sending Bellamy off against Spurs for a "dive" which wasn't a dive. Bellamy got a lump kicked out of him.

Back to Old Trafford in 2010 where Nani took a Spurs free kick awarded for a United hand ball. Nani scored in the open goal and Clattenburg gave it.

Mikel and Lallana have complained about personal abuse from Clattenburg.

Oh yeah, there is also that infamous Stamford Bridge game where Torres was horrifically fouled by Johnny Evans and was sent off for diving. United went on to win the game by scoring 2 offside goals.

This man is a disgrace to the game. He is a cheat. He has favoured United throughout his career and it must have been with the biggest regret of his life when he had to send off Evans in our 6-1 drubbing off his favourite team.

I'd also like to add that the BBC are supposed to be a cooperation without bias. I pay a TV liscence so why did they only analyse Arsenal's defensive mistakes before highlighting how excellent Wilshere and Sanchez are? No mention of Pellegrini bollocking the ref. No Kompany VT. Just shit southern loving arse holes.

Don't forget that even in the 6-1, that Evans sending off could/should have been a pen and he waved away a 100% definite penalty on Micah when he was hacked down in the box

And he should just keep his gob shut and thank his lucky stars, for two goals that should never have been.

I'd have taken a point in advance, and certainly when we were giving the ball away for fun in the first half, but feel we SHOULD not COULD have won it at the end.
Clattenburg was awful as expected. The fouls on Sergio were ignored because he's not a soft arse clown with inner ear problems while the diving by Arsenal players was simply predictable.
I'll end with a question to those who think we should be glad of an away draw against a top-four side: I'll agree if the game is even but why should we be happy if we waste the chances to win it? They might have scored two dodgy goals but we could have had two or three on top of the two we got. Those missed chances could cost us at the end of the season.
Three years ago we played a top four rival away from home and a draw there would have meant us finishing as runners up rather than champions had all others results been the same. It was our only away win against a top four side that that season. Would you like to guess the result?

Shearer's decision to focus on Arsenal's defensive frailties was bizarre considering we'd just witnessed a fantastic passionate game with four goals and plenty of incidents.

But he was just looking out for himself. During the game he'd obviously noticed how the Arse push their full-backs up too high and easy and thought this was a Hansen-type analysis to run with as he is now filling his shoes.

Defending needs to better vs top teams tho and in the midfield too, first 30 minutes of the game were awful, losing ball in dangerous places, not running back, the ball Welbeck had when he hit the woodwork early in the game, WTF was that assist from us, than the way Zabaleta reacted so slowly to Sanchez's goal, Sanchez alrerady scored it when Zaba turned back...
The way Wilshere could make than run so easily for their first was bad too. Fault or no fault in the build up, it was still way to easy for them.

Pretty sure Bayern and both Chelsea will test our defending more than Arsenal so if we cant improve it we wont have a good week. Midfielders need to do a better job defensively, making sure defenders has less trouble to deal with. Would really love to see a fucking Fernando-Fernandinho-Yaya trio doing every type of defensive jobs and also attacking help from them, and would have great tu use it especially in these hard games, Fernando's injury came in and its sad we only have a past it old Lampard to come in basically.
I think he will be only good for us from coming in late for 10-15 minutes when we are in lead and want to keep it, but not in big games from the start especially vs runners like Arsenal have.,

But Lampard leaves in January, Yaya to for Africa, surely for about 3-5 weeks Fernandinho-Fernando and maybe Milner wont be enough for us with maybe League and FA CUp games between league games. And hard to think they will be 100% full fitness with no injuries at all in that period.
Hope there is a very early January midfield signing for us. Even on loan.

Very pessimistic view of a very good performance away at a difficult venue with key players missing.

We're going to need a bit of luck with injuries aren't we. With no Yaya at Acon and Lampard gone in Jan, we will need both Ferns fit or we might struggle at that time. Not to mention our only having 3 strikers.

Nasri was on the bench yesterday even with Fernando and Yaya out.
