Artemis II

No idea why Seiko are putting that on their site because mechanical watches of course work in zero gravity, they are powered by the potential energy of the wound main spring.

Perhaps they are alluding to automatic movements - the rotor will be affected by gravity in some circumstances but the vast majority of its power comes from the momentum of you swinging your arm about, not gravity pulling on the rotor.

Either way mechanical watches have been worn in space many times, most famously the Speedy Professional which is a mechanical wind, and many Breitlings, lots of others too.

'Watches worn in space' is big topic of interest and in Omega's case, a marketing opportunity they've been milking for half a century.

Interesting. I’m not a NASA engineer or a watchmaker, but it wasn’t as silly a question as your initial reply suggested…

Humans ain’t built for space but future human maybe they will with drugs technology! Even robots who go to the moon build on there till it’s ready for humans to then go..

so they cleared the airspace before take off what about space junk, satellites and space station did they just shout go away

NASA and other space agencies can track satellites and will know when there are clear windows to launch. The liklihood of a satellite crossing the path of a rocket is extremely slim, hitting it even slimmer. Either way at times some satellites will be maneuvered out of the projected trajectory.

The chances of being hit my space debris are even smaller. Plus modern rockets are fitted with protective shielding which would prevent most tiny debris from creating a breach in the hull.

The space station was over the pacific during the launch and was able to see the aftermath of the contrail 30 mins afterwards.

They plot any items which may be a problem. It is getting to be a mamouth task.

What's the point of it all though ? We LANDED on the moon more than FIFTY years ago ! This is hardly groundbreaking, total waste of time and money, it feels like the USA are trying to 'show' off...now if we were going to land on say 'Mars' i get it...
The ultimate goal is to establish a lunar base. This mission is basically a test run for dozens of what if scenarios they cannot simulate without being in space as well as testing vital equipment and testing reactions to the body. They'll be answering a lot of unknowns with all this prep work for the ultimate aim. The feat of orbiting the moon isn't groundbreaking itself, we've surpassed that long ago but all the new technology available to us in helping a lunar base become a reality and making it easier and most cost efficient to do so is something that requires lots of testing, so in that regard it is a big step forward.

They timed it to make sure no satellites were passing over at launch. And even if they didn't, the chances of colliding with something is incredibly minimal and they also have the ability to steer. Would be like taking two pedalos into the middle of the pacific from both sides in opposite directions and being concerned about bumping into one another, only imagine the pacific is thousands of times bigger than it is.

The algorithms did me a solid today. Randomly stumbled across a flat earth group, as you can imagine it's been bombarded from all 4 directions with people asking the morons to explain this, their attempts to counter it have been glorious. I think it is the ones that choose to laugh and claim everybody else is deluded and gullible that are my favourites, they're a truly special but quite worrying breed.

They had planned hold times to avoid potential collisions if the launch was delayed from the schedule. Only had a 2 hour window last night and the next time they could've flown would have been Saturday.

They’re fucking stupid aren’t they?! I’ve seen all sorts of shite today, most of which had made me laugh. We watched a simulation yesterday. another take is when the cameras went off the launch, the rocket nose dived into the sea. The flat earth morons though. Just wow at that mentality. You’ll never win though. They always have an answer. It must be a constant battle living like that.
