Obviously for the time being Pep is here to stay but when the time does come, do we feel Arteta would be a good option given his close work with Pep?

Problem for internal candidates like Arteta is that he’s presently a part of the Pep ‘machine’ but when Pep leaves - he takes the machine with him - so Arteta would be left building from the ground up to replace not only Pep but all of his exceptional back room staff. I guess if Arteta is the chosen one - Pep et al and try and get him ready and start to build a team around him.

It's a tricky situation.

Will Arteta (if he succeeds Pep) become his own man or be a facsimile of Pep and his tactics.

The temptation for the owners and top brass is the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" line. But a new top level manager can't work under another's philosophy without putting something of their own personality in there.

In fact I wouldn't rate any manager that allowed himself to be dictated to completely on tactics. Follow an outline plan or structure/style of play and adapt it to suit.

I hope Arteta does take over, but I also hope he has the strength of character to lead the team in his own image, but with the Pep's DNA somewhere in there as well.

i'd quite like to see him take charge of league cup games for the next 2 years
