"Although we'd never dream it out loud because we'd be petrified if it came true."
That is so true and possibly the explanation for the recent neurosis!

Maybe its because at Maine Road we had 25000 th 30000 regulars for years seeing all the ups and downs, now at Eastlands we have about 15000 newbie’s who demand instant success in return for the price of their ticket
We need to educate them about City

I'm a newbie fan living in Kentucky, USA. I didn't start watching the premiership until the 06-07 season, and it was toward the end of that season that City got in my heart for some reason. I had some rational reasons I came up with, but I think it's because I saw something in the City fans that this article illustrates that is the real reason why.

The only other person I know in the area that I live that even follows football is an ex-pat who grew up in London and is a United fan. I'll never forget the quizzical look of bemusement on his face when I told him I had become a Manchester City fan.

Great read, and brings it all back.

I was at that Arsenal game, and it's odd to think about it now, but it did'nt seem to matter so we had a big party. And Arsenal were brilliant that night, the best display of football I have seen live in my life.

I remember when loads of people were leaving their seats 10 minutes before half time to numb their senses with a few beers, and the bloke sitting next to me asked if I was staying to watch the second half? 'Oh Yes. I'm staying to watch Arsenal'.

We also lost 4-0 to Arsenal a Maine Rd a couple of years later. I'm not sure, but it could have been 4 -0 at half time as well. Keegan told the players there was not another set of fans in the world who would not be booing them off the pitch at half time.

I dread to think what the atmosphere would be like if that happened any time soon.

lovely story. i do miss city back then.

obviously i wouldn't change now..

Great stuff, that game against Arsenal. Bloke sitting down on the pitch in the first half, carried off with his arms and legs still folded. Bloke and his wife running on the pitch in the second half with his wife (he tried to tackle an Arsenal player), her without a top, him without any trousers. Seaman spending the whole of the second half taking the piss with the fans behind his goal (I particularly liked him falling over and then giving the fans the Vs for cheering it - all a good laugh. Nash letting two or three in on his debut before he touched it. Some good stuff sung about his ponytail too). Party atmosphere for the whole of the second half.

And then a similar pasting the a couple of seasons later at Maine Road.

What a cracking team Arsenal were then. Brilliant stuff. I clapped them off both times.

As if I needed reminding why I'm a Blue....... But by God reading that has made my chest puff out, and literally has made me smile a wide, contented smile.

I LOVE MANCHESTER CITY XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

haha brilliant, i have just printed it off, so tomorrow if we get beat i can show it to the lads in the car and we can all see how far we have come..

My philosophy on city at the moment goes like this.....

"two bulls in a field, baby bull and daddy bull, baby bull says
"daddy lets RUN down the hill and shag one of them cows in that field".
Daddy replies "no son, lets WALK down and shag them all!!!!!!!"
