As a club - what have we done so wrong?

As someone who writes about City online what is starting to piss me off is when I'll do a piece on Norwich or Everton for example. there will invariably be someone (who is aware I'm a blue) who will take umbridge with this, claiming it's patronising for a City fan to be writing about Everton's negative tactics or Norwich's Prem survival hopes.

The thing is....the club I support is wealthy but I'm not. I dont have a pot to piss in sometimes. In fact - because ticket prices have risen - financially-speaking if anything I'm worse off than before!

Not that I'm complaining mind haha Better than the alternative.

But some opposing fans, for some strange reason, dont seperate the fortunes of the fans with the club. As if I'm wearing a cravat, sipping Chardonnay and have Sergio Aguero to make my brews for me.

I actually think Josh's post has come a bit late. Imagine the scenario if we had the same points tally but United were a few points worse off which is probably what their performances deserve. A win for us last night would have put us virtually out of sight.

Now imagine you are one of the majority of Football fans out there who dont support a "Sky" Club,us or Spurs would you want to see a one horse race?. I am convinced that unless they are from Villa,Everton, Newcastle and the big Clubs they mostly want City to do well. They wish it had been "them" more - but they still want us to do well. They just want to see a race to the finish as do the Media and "Sky" in particular, and I believe both of these bodies have softened in recent months in their attitude towards us.

Almost forgot,The Racism angle is one of the daftest things I have seen discussed on here.

Hello killiemitch, interesting insight; fair play. one thing - I'd imagine the industry that is football needs to have a word with itself, en masse. £200,000 a week to play football is ludicrous in reality, but by the same token so is £2000 a week, and i dare say there are many more earning that sort of money. Ticket pricing is the biggest sham of all, tho, imo.

Anyway, i doubt you'll really see city spend again for a while - and by that i don't mean no signings, but i do imagine we'll slow down dramatically and consistently from here on in. Many might say that this is s reaction to financial fair play, but i honestly believe that at the outset, a big splurge was always the plan, then they'd stop. I wish i had time to synopsis the 'las Vegas' thread you'll see on the main page, but you may get the just that we've been talking about something bigger than football,:happening in east Manchester, for the last 2 years and more on there. Something good for the sport at large, the city and the country.

The lack of being able to separate the first team from the rest of us annoys me.

I've also seen at at the younger levels of academy games.

Certain clubs (not gonna say which but not the old sky 4) and their parents are desperate to beat City and act as if all the city lads and parents all drive rollers and live in Alderley Edge. Something which may benefit the lads who are lucky enough to go all the way but it does not generate a good atmosphere.

What everyone forgets is these are all just normal kids and as a group of fans we are all just normal folk who have got lucky but also stuck with our club when the chips were down.

Maybe they not only resent the fact we hit lucky but also resent we can (for now) all fall back on the fact we arent just the bunch of glory hunters they would like us to be. Deep down they know if it happened to them most of them would be glory hunters who havent backed their club when the chips were down.

Imagine how boring and stagnant the PL would be without our investment. The PL need us to be the most competative league in the world and we should be thanked for that.
Instead of the boring same old top 4 we now have a top 6 or 7 (stretching it a little) eg Spain still only top 2.
The PL is the most exciting and competative, we have raised the bar and my answer to the OP is that they should thank and congratulate us.

Totally agree with that.

The Villa, Newcastle, and Everton fans I work with are quietly hoping we win it, as they dislike the others even more.

I think there is a hint of racism from the press in some of their articles. Also there certainly was a racist anti arab rant directed at us and our club by a certain rag Irish bloke walking up chester road after the derby. At least the Irish bloke was erm.... show the error of his ways. (by someone much harder than me a hasten to add)

another aspect is the amount of pundits you know the failed or never been managers who are fearful of not having their own club in the big four situation, can you imagine if they are told their contract will be coming to an end and the company manager says sorry but we are thinking on the lines of bringing someone new in, you know like an ex city or tottenham player, in my eyes this negativity towards city is based on fear and greed, i agree totally about the lazy journos who for the past twenty years have only really wrote about the concreted big four who would then have to change their whole mentality which would be disastrous to their well being. as for other fans, not all are against city but a lot do believe or want to believe everything that is said on tv or read in the newspapers, so the vicious circle begins, the whole situation is hypocrisy based on greed, myself personally would love to see a change on both terrestrial and satellite tv to the extent of a total clearout, the only pundit in the past few years since the takeover as been gary neville showing a lot of knowledge about the game and giving city a fair crack of the whip, early days yet and time will tell. some of the poisonous vindictiveness of these journoes and pundits as bordered on pure hate and when pulled up about it, their excuse is as lame as their cocks, (well you wanted to be up there)? what a sad excuse by some of the most transparent hacks to ever grace our newspapers.

Racism.

We have Muslim owners.

Balotelli is picked on for being a black Italian whilst a fat granny shagging scousers antics are dismissed as foreplay.

Despite having the spine of the England team in our squad were are always labled as a team of foriegn mercenaries.

Shiek Mansour is a threat. Both sporting and in buisness.
