i dont understand how they have such little difficulty buying class players as a newly promoted team when we were established in the prem(a better league) and were not constrained by FFPR to start with yet didn't buy this quality of player.

Probably had something to do with that bellend al fahim shooting his mouth off.And Mark Hughes.
Not exactly inspiring.

I genuinely think we could have signed this calibre of player, but in general Hughes seemed to want to bring in players from the premier league. I assume because he knew his job was always on the line and he wanted players he thought he could trust and would make a big impact with minimal settling in time.

FFPR my fucking arse.

We should blow every **** out of the water this summer, we really should.

I don't have a problem with Monaco spending big money on players, if their owner wants to do that then that's his choice and I don't believe FFP should prevent it, with the caveat that he is turnign the money spent into equity and not loading it onto the club as a debt they need to pay him.

My issue is the Monaco tax situation. Monaco has negligible tax, whereas France has a 75% tax rate for its highest earners. This means that Marseille for example would have to spend a vast amount of money on wages in order to give a player the same take home pay as one who plays for Monaco. Now, that's an issue with FFP across the different leagues in Europe anyway (French tax is different to English tax, which in turn is different to Spanish tax) but those issues are exacerbated when it affects different teams within the same domestic competition.

Excellent post mate and the real issue at stake here for me.

FFPR are all good and well when its a true level playing field, i.e. same tax rules, same attendances, same wage bills, same revenue streams etc etc etc.

Arsenal and the likes moaning like fuck but they forget what they make in contrast to us in a matchday through a larger attendance but more importantly through what they charge.

FFPR is dead in the water and has been in reality for a long time.

Also a lot to do with 3rd party ownership and Falcao and 2 Porto players having little choice in where they moved
Well that and the fact that Monaco is fucking Monaco and you pay no tax
Monaco or Manchester???

or, he could insist that like other managers, all transfers go through his agent of choice and he gets a slice of every transfer he's ever done since Blackburn.
