I've often thought that but it was even the case when we had no training kit sponsor and instead had Cityzens on the back or front of the gear. I suppose it saves costs on the manufacturingDoesn't that defeat the point of sponsorship?
Isn't our training kit treated the same as our playing kit? The same for the players & fans?I've often thought that but it was even the case when we had no training kit sponsor and instead had Cityzens on the back or front of the gear. I suppose it saves costs on the manufacturing
Nope. Never has beenIsn't our training kit treated the same as our playing kit? The same for the players & fans?
Didn't someone say we removed the SuperDry apparell from the site in view of the legal action, or has Asahi SuperDry never been on our training kit?
It's not like Asahi put a gun to our heads and told us to accept the sponsorship. As per the contract. We couldn't exactly put someone else's logo on there.
This stinks of a stunt to gain publicity for an ailing brand off our backs. I've never heard of such a pile of confusing crap in my life mate. ¯\_(⊙_ʖ⊙)_/¯
We've removed it from the latest versions of the player training kit. It used to sit above Asahi. But the version with any sponsorship has never been able to be purchased by fansDidn't someone say we removed the SuperDry apparell from the site in view of the legal action, or has Asahi SuperDry never been on our training kit?
Sadly they actually own the trademark to "Super Dry" and various similar iterations in other languages.Let’s just refer to them as “Super Dry” to boil a bit more piss
If they have an issue, isn't that between SuperDry & Asahi? Shouldn't Asahi have advised City of the situation & whether we should pull the clothing with branding on, or to continue until the matter was resolved? It's not like Asahi put a gun to our heads and told us to accept the sponsorship.
Trademark stuff often appears silly. Arsenal sued a hat shop in Spain and won. The band Easy Life, who have been around for years, and were headlining ay Ally Pally and the Victoria Warehouse last year, are considering splitting up because the Easy Jet people have sued them.
Superdry started licensing their clothes in Asia last year, and it may well be that's the impetus - if their partners flagged it up in advance, and as part of the deal said they expected Superdry to be proactive. All conjecture, but frankly I don't see this as a particular surprising case myself, and don't see it as an attack on City.
